View Full Version : Did Top Gear ever review the Euro?

I've been looking around and can't seem to find any footage of Top Gear UK reviewing the CL7/9 euro... just wondering if they ever did, and if anyone has a link?

i think they only ever did a segment on the EK9 vs. FN2R and now n again say how much they love the S2K and a segment on the FCX Clarity

Yeah i've seen a segment comparing the EP3R to the FN2R, the NSX track lap Clarkson did in the US, FCX Clarity review that James did, Racing a Type R against a bike... but never anything on the euro

They did an Euro vs old Jaguar in a 1/4 mile drag.

The reason why Top Gear did not review the Euro is because it is sold as the Accord in the UK and the Accord is known as an "uncle's car" there.

Have a look at Fifth Gear. They might have reviewed it.

They actually did do review of it, would have been a few year ago now - not sure of which series. They did a comparison with about 4 or 5 other cars, the only other car I can remember that was in the comparison was the Ford Mondeo.

Yes, they did.

In season 1 episode 4, Richard Hammond compared a bunch of medium sizes cars, one of which was the (then brand new) 2L version of the Euro. The other cars were the Ford Mondeo, BMW 3, Mercedes C-class, Renault Laguna, Jag X-type and Toyota Avensis.

I think that they rated the Euro the best 'compromise' overall, but the Mondeo set the best track time.

Fifth Gear went to a race meet with Tiff Needell in a modified CL9 Euro and overtook an RX8 on the track which was rather impressive, and they also tested the CU2 wagon at one point. And in a recent online Fifth Gear episode, Vicki tested the CU2 Euro DTEC Sport.

There was a written road test by James May on the old top gear website; was all positive. The article has been taken down now.

lots... theres a fundamental difference in the way it operates

have a look at the wiki page on diesel engines. it provides a reasonable description on the differences between diesel and petrol
