Plenty of weight in the back:

Did it work? Dunno, only did it yesterday/today,it was like that for 24 hours.I had a 3 finger gap before.
Anyone tried it?
Do ya's reckon it might work? :p

lol, if you have good springs it will come back.
Most good springs don't sag. I've had mine now for over 6yrs no sag at all and i'm not a light person ahum....

hahaha,I'm sick of the 3 finger gap! :)
They are stock shock 120,000km's and king springs 20,000km's..
Even if it dropped by 1 finger I would be happy.
Would it handle worse though?

beeza do you have lows or superlows?
I got king springs SL on mine and the guy told me that it can go down up to .5cm more once its completely worn in. King springs has that sag resistant/guarantee.
I was driving around with a full car last week and abit of rubber was tucked in. Looked really nice but it was scraping.
beeza
24-09-2009, 04:37 PM
Lows, they have 'settled'.I didn't know they have a sag resistant guarantee...guess that means this probably wont work then.
flipfire
24-09-2009, 04:41 PM
According to the website, you can claim warranty if it sags more than 1cm of original lowered height. Claim warranty and get superlow replacements haha
2. Warranty against sagging (being loss of original free height by more than 10mm).
Why dont you just get it heated and compressed?
beeza
24-09-2009, 04:59 PM
Hmmm heated and compressed aye. Please do tell, sounds good!
How much would it cost?
flipfire
24-09-2009, 05:30 PM
Around $100 for a pair.
Come to think of it, you can grab a pair of rear Superlow springs for about $150 lol
beeza
24-09-2009, 05:32 PM
Cheers!
I thought of that but wouldn't it handle bad then?
MRK20CRX
24-09-2009, 10:34 PM
your car will never handle good with stock shocks and king springs, i had that set up for a year, i had no confidence with my crx, until recently i bought coilovers, my suggestion would be to leave it the way it is, save some money and buy a decent set of adjustable coilovers, you can change the height to your liking that way. It's the most rewarding thing you can do for your ride man.
beeza
25-09-2009, 08:18 AM
Thanks mate.Your right,I haven't got confidence with the set up but to to put coilovers in legally, would cost $2700 for Tein Fulcrum SS,which is too expensive.
Anyways,I dont really care about the handling aspect anymore, more so the gap.

king springs will sag over time putting more weight in it will mke it happen faster

What do you mean by to put coilovers in legally?
beeza
25-09-2009, 09:19 AM
Not the best phrasing but coilovers need to be ADR approved to be leagal.
Check this thread (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118653) out.
Brett, what the **** are you doing?
Just get some Koni yellows and lower the spring perch.
**** the ADR, they can get you for anything they want! :zip:
also what you doing with a set of SSRs but your still on stock shocks
beeza
25-09-2009, 10:29 AM
haha,Cheers Trav!
That does sound like a plan.
How far do you think it will allow me to drop it?
Yeah,I had BIG plans and was gonna use the SSR's for showy drag rims but the plans fell through...but all good,I'm Happy as Larry!

kings springs do sag over time as said before, if you probably drive around for another year you will notice.
you have king springs which handle like shit anyway. might aswell just cut them a bit. get the right height. lol , or get whiteline springs.
end of day king springs are pretty lameskies. the other guy had a clever idea of returning them
beeza
25-09-2009, 11:02 AM
If I can lower the height by changing the old shocks,I'll do that.
vinnY
25-09-2009, 11:18 AM
tell it like it is trav :p
i don't think adding weight for a few days will make it sag
pretty sure the springs will eventually sag but this is with years of use
get some koni yellows brett :p
beeza
25-09-2009, 11:32 AM
How much will it drop it by though, that's the question.
Cheers Vin!
Alexx
25-09-2009, 01:15 PM
Lol brett, you are a funny guy :thumbsup: Thats not going to lower your car at all.
Koni yellows have an adjustable perch that you can drop to a lower setting as trav said. Just get that and enjoy the massively increased performance over stock shocks. Will cost you around 1k for them.
OR just get some coilovers man like you were going to for a similar price from paul!! That way you can set the height where you want - i think you are too hung up on ADR approved stuff man, just keep stock setup on hand to clear any defects if you do get pinned for it
Basically, if you dont drive around like a knob, you arent going to get pulled up for it. Afterall, all we drive are crappy little civics - cops arent interested in them. I havent been pulled over in 5 years.....Its all about your attitude on the street! If you drive like a spanner, be prepared to cop it.

25-09-2009, 01:32 PM
Thanks Alex :)
The thing is,I just moved out to 100 acres, paradise.I only have 10 points on my licience,so 2 to go.I dont wanna risk losing what I got.If I get done again = No licience = Move back to the goldy = Rather stay out in paradise,so that's what it comes down too.
But like you said,it's about how you drive.I drove too fast before and when you do,ya stand out.I've slowed down now,so maybe some koni's will be my reward.
It's sounding good.Do you know where to buy Alex?I am sick of the stock shocks.
My car is at my muffler guys place getting a heap of Mugen bushes put in :)
He owned the fastest V8 in Australia and used to race it at Willowbank!

25-09-2009, 02:19 PM
Not sure yet but he's always given me a great price,he's a legend.I will let ya know on sunday.
I rang him up before and he said he has to make up some tools to press them out.But dont worry,he wont charge me for that like most will. He's very very fair, hence why I go to him.No invoice/reciept,just 50 bucks will do ya! type thing.
Mugen:
* Front upper control arm
* Front lower control arm
* Rear compensator
* Rear Isolator
and
* Rear Trailing arm bushes
WOOT WOOT!
I have had these bushes in my bedroom for 1 1/2 years now HAHA!!! :)

25-09-2009, 10:48 PM
that is some funny sht.. if you want to lower your ride.. cheapest and also the most dangerous way is to cut your springs.. heavy loading for days or weeks will not lower your ride, if they did all the old school kingswood on the road would be dumped on their ass like dubs..
beeza
27-09-2009, 10:56 AM
Goint point Euro! hehe and thanks :)
Your right,I still got a 3 finger gap..

$280 Hisoka.Thre was a bit of time involved and making up some tools to use.
He couldn't do the Front lower control arm bushes though,he said ya need a special tool for the job.Do U know about that?
Far out the car feels excellent. So Good!!

27-09-2009, 11:40 AM
no idea man, i was just wondering as i wanted to do it on my freinds car because he has got the full kit. was just gonna tell him to go to the shop if it wasnt costing to much.
beeza
27-09-2009, 12:18 PM
If you know someone who charges fairly then I would definately get them to do it,save all the hassle. He had to make up a special tool for each bush!
I personnally wouldnt put in Energy suspension bushes, they are cheap and make your car vibrate. It took me ages to decide what to do with te bushes.
Lots of research.
There's definately a balance. As you can see above I choose those bushes and in Mugen.

clearly the GFC is hitting the Honda community hardcore.
I mean , no one speaks of TEIN this or SKUNK 2 that. Its all about the FREE lowering mods ffs.
MikeyG
27-09-2009, 01:41 PM
actually ben beeza was told of tein... he was quited the price of the coilovers but he didnt want it so we are giving the free option as every tom dick and harry wants something free on ozhonda anyway
beeza
27-09-2009, 01:43 PM
What's GFC benny? cause if it's in anyway related to KFC,it ain't hitting me,that's forsure!! hehe :)
Tein's are a rip off and Skunk 2's are not legal.

global financial crisis -
i loaded my accord with around 80 liters of water but it handled like a boat, killed my brakes, and chewed petrol. when i took it out, it went back to normal height.. in the end, i got a new set of springs hahaha
in the integra, i got dual height coils for that full height adjustability.

beeza
27-09-2009, 02:37 PM
Gotcha.Yeah if anything I should change the old shocks over.
Brett, dont be a douche. Just buy some koni yellows. The spring perch is adjustable by 25mm. i rocked kings and konis for like 2years and raced at QR on them. It is a cost effective setup and knowing your car, im sure they will be more than adequate
ps MR-5s are dope
pps if u want a good price on them, let me know, i know a guy ;)

hisoka, dont mean to turn customers away but we used skunk2 sleeves with koni shocks. worst setup i have ever been. the rear was TOO bouncy, unsetlled, and actually hurt our backs. Good for track, but terrible for street. my mate gor bump oversteer on a few occasions in a big fat accord LOL. imagine how they'd react on a smaller car.
imagine running springs designed to carry the weight of an engine, yet only carrying the weight of an empty rear. it was so bad, we got rid of them and swapped in king springs.

lol, you shouldnt ever ever ever run any kind of sleeve with a aftermarket strut on the street.
skunk2 sleeves are designed for standard struts. all good but lol.
vinnY
28-09-2009, 11:24 AM
if anything it should be run with aftermarket shocks since they usually have a higher damper rate
i'm going to assume the spring rate is fairly high in those skunk2 sleeves(at least 2-3 times that of oem springs), how are stock shocks going to handle them?
if anything you'd be bouncing even more with stock shocks than you would with aftermarket ones
sireal's skunk2 springs were probably just way too heavy for the koni yellows to handle, not to say koni's can't handle a wide range it's just the skunk2's were too much
SiReal
28-09-2009, 11:24 AM
It handled amazingly for an accord tho when we dialled up the damper on the yellows, when the damper was on softer, it bounced like a mofo.
but setups like koni/ground control are proven winners?
i think if onyl skunk2 designed the rear spring to be longer and softer, then it'll be a nice daily setup
hisoka
28-09-2009, 11:47 AM
skunk 2 designs for a oem shock or a skunk2 sport shock.
the ones i have do not fit konis. this is why iam selling

Haha,cheers Krizy :p
I thought about that Lukey but the front would be too low then,if I put them on the rear only it's gonna handle sh!t right?
This is with king lows springs and stock shocks (115,000kms)
02gzm
29-09-2009, 10:34 AM
Kings sell front and rear sets seperately you know.
Super-low rears for EK/EJ - KHRL-59
Ultra-low rears for EK/EJ - KHRL-59SL
*note* Don't be confused by the part numbering system as they are semi-universal.
i.e. the super and ultralows for EK/EJ's are actually the same as the EG lows and superlows.
Handling will be the same as they make them with the same progessive rates. Just different heights.
beeza
29-09-2009, 11:47 AM
O,really!?!
If that's the case,I will just put some king super lows on the rear then!
flipfire
29-09-2009, 12:17 PM
Yeah you can get a pair for about $150
Superlows is an inch lower than lows and ultra lows is another inch lower.
beeza
29-09-2009, 12:20 PM

as long as QLD is run like a dictator state like others on the SE of OZ, better to be safe than in court with fines and time wasted.

what some neglect to notice is that Brett lives on the Gold Coast, having a modified car there is like driving with a bullseye on
hitting up the Spit for a quick swim can end up in alot of fines if a car isn't 100% legal, crazy state
hisoka
01-10-2009, 11:23 AM
but they wont even bother checking suspension as long as the car sits 100mm off the ground at the lowest point.
and i dont think he has to many other crazy mods to worry about
02gzm
01-10-2009, 11:47 AM
Even if they look at the suspension and see conventional gas struts with springs they aren't going to do anything as long as the car is over 100mm off the ground. Your typical uneducated cop seeing coilovers will however instantly think they are illegal. So as it's a daily, just buy some quality shocks to go with your lowered springs and you'll be fine so long as you keep it legal height.
EDIT: I can't find the actual ADR at the moment but it applies to adjustable suspension as described:
ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION - a suspension capable of providing adjustment of the
trim height of a vehicle by virtue of special design features built into the
suspension system other than the trim height difference that may be caused by
load variations.
Standard gas struts are fixed length so are fine.
