Hi All,
I haven't posted in a while and I know this seems like a noob questions, so any haters can p#ss off and stop reading now, but my recent interest in K20 Civic's kinda made me start thinking alot about how to get the same performance from an K20 EG Civic, without having to fork out sh#t loads for a K20 engine.

I was thinking of perhaps going for a B series engine maybe with a little help from forced induction, but I don't know whether you get the same out of it as you would out of a K series.

I don't know, thought I'd throw this question out there to see what someone else would probably do. Coz yeah, were not all rolling in cash and I do agree with all you K series fans out there that K series civics are sweet.

Anyways, whats your thoughts? :D

you save. thats what you do.
be creative and do other things that might increase your income.
eg. $10 buttsecks.

as the other guy said just save. saving does 2 things.

it gives you a shit load of time to think about it - so maybe when you have the 10 grand you will be like shit 10 grand took this long, maybe if i save for that much longer i can just buy a ****.

and you will appreciate the fact that all ure own hard eearned money went into buying it/

but my key point was point number 1 lol, and if you cbf just turbo a b16a

K20A isn't really worth it man. You'd have to fork out like $10k minimum to get the conversion done (assuming you're paying somebody else) so yeah I reckon there's plenty of options in the B Family.
H22A is probably too heavy and would affect your handling in an EG, and if you wanna make you're car quicker handling is probably a better area to focus. If you want to just go in a straight line then sure go for a H22A for driving around corners quickly it's probably not a great idea.

So if a $10 conversion is too expensive for you I'd assume your budget might be around $5-7k?

B16A would give about 120kw at the fly. Conversion could probably be done for like $4000-5000 +/-
H22A can be done for around $5000-6000 +/- but would be heavy on handling but 150kw at the fly is nice
B18C is anywhere between 120-152kw depending on the variant. Looking at $6000-7000 +/-

Otherwise if you wanna go FI then to be honest you should do a conversion as most EGs are SOHC. If it's an EG Si with the D16A8 DOHC you could surely turbo it because the benefits of turbo'ing a SOHC are shit compared to DOHC. The D16A is a tough engine and can handle 8-10 PSI easily on stock internals and would then make awesome power.

I wouldn't bother going turbo SOHC still won't make huge power until you've put on all your bolt-ons and done internal work, ECU & tuning etc...you'd then have been able to afford a K20A swap anyway...

There is one K20 stroked to 2.2L by J's Racing, all J's internals. going for about 8-9K.

^^^ sounds mint. Has it been run in a chassis yet? What's it make at the fly?

I think they put once in their car (J's car) to test and they said 160kw (not sure whether atw or atc)

It would have to be ATW coz an Aus K20A makes 150kw at the fly and a JDM one makes 155kw at the fly

B series turbo.

N/A does not satisfy. B series and 10 psi. Rolling would munch alot of k swapped cars.
Off the line however.... Wheel spin is your best friend.

And plus B series have cheaper off the shelf parts.

Is 10 PSI a little too much? I was under the impression that 8 was the max on stock internals but I've seen a few people running 10 so I'm not sure at this stage.
