View Full Version : Varying idle (have cleaned IACV)
clutch

hey guys, after having an od idle where it went up and down i cleaned the iacv section and its not as bad but sometimes maybe 50% of the time, the idle rises from 1100 to 1400 (i set my idle to 1100 via the adjustment screw) is the iacv still dirty? or could something else be wrong? maybe the sensors?
any ideas are appreciated, cheers

after i cleaned my IACV, mine still did abit of fluctuation, then i was told to lube up the inside.
Friend told me he soaked his in engine oil and then poured it out so that it had a thin film inside.
I did mine with water dispersant spray and it seems to have solved alot of the problem

hmm interesting, but wouldnt the oil blow out after a short period? i wonder what the theory behind that is

If your car has FITV,you will need to adjust that.

You can do it with it on.
See the 1st pic in this (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110641) thread? That is the FITV on the d16y4,my car.To adjust mine,I take those 2 screws off,get a mirror to see in there and simply just move it till it's fine.On the d16y4 it doesn't screw in,it's a little thang that just moves.
I will guarantee you if you have an FITV that this is ya problem.

hmmm, it says to screw it in more if it idles to high, now how am i supposed to know what position its in to know its revving to high? LOL so everytime i want to adjust the idle, i have to go through that whole prosess again? over and over till the idle is right?

I have only recently started using my multi meter,it's intimidating...but damn,it really is easy aye.
I have layed the DIY out in easy to follow steps..
The FITV needs to stay on the car so you adjust it when the car is going,so you know where is best.
Just use a mirror to see in there and simply move the little doover :) or screw, depends on the set up in there BUT its EASY!
