Hey this is my first thread, sorry if its in the wrong section. I am looking to buy an Integra and do a jdm front end conversion plus a K20 swap later on. I just want some input from you guys about which teg I should get. I think the type r is a bit too expensive if I am going to change that much on it. What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated :) CHEERS

The cost of doing a conversion on an older model integra dc2 will propably set you back for the price of a dc5r( current model integra) A rough price for a k20a conversion (done properly) you will be looking at 15k and thats not including you car.

you can get most the parts from the US for about 10k, thats including the K20A. im looking to do all of this by myself so theres no labour needed.

Well if your planning engine swap+ JDM front. Best thing to do is buy a shitbox pre-facelift gsi for around 3 or 4 grand. But seriously if i were you , id just buy one already done, but depends if your a type of person that has patience, can be bothered modding every part...

the thing is, my budget wont allow me to do it all at once, so i gotta be patient and do it slowly. You guys know the differences of the body of the VTiR and the GSI?

The body?.. hmm VTiR has coloured side mouldings...I think thicker swaybar..
I dont think anything else..

isnt the vtir bigger inside aswell as the gsi is abit small?

Interior dimensions of all DC2/DC4's are the same (not including 4-doors)

I doubt you will be able to get all the parts including the engine @ 10k. You must take into consideration that the import tax here is high. K20A will set you back at about 8k-9k itselfs incl. tax

You'll be looking at about 12k-13k all up excluding chassis mate.

Can you get k20's in AU for 6k?

I don't think that is K20A. It's a type S engine base on the parts that he is selling. You might want to consider B18C for 6k-7k

It's really hard to get AUDM K20A2 for 6k. It'll be a good bargain if you got one at that price. Even if you got it at that price, it might not include gearbox, shifter cable, shifter box and etc. I reckon that you should do more research on Kswap and what are the basic components needed then start to do the math from there. You might also want to consider getting a K20A2 swapped DC/EG. It'll make your life heaps easier.

Thats Right and more! i only use quality parts. Just go do a kswap conversion and find out for yourself.

it's going to be a money pit man. But k20 FTW!

ima noob when it comes to k20's but can you mod a k24 head to flow better than a k20 head?>.

would it be more logical if i do the front end conversion before I do the kswap?

cymax

There's no logical way or not. Both doesnt affect each other in anyway. I reckon that you should do kswap first... power then outlook

I don't think it'll be cost efficient to mod the k24 head. Also, I don't think you can do that. People usually adopt the way like yours. Small head but big block...you get high rev (front end) and big capacity for back end.

Frankenstein FTW!

what do you mean small head big block?
because the head is from a smaller displacement engine means it's able to rev higher?

B16/B20
I thought this is what people trying to achieve? Educate me if I'm wrong. :) I thought smaller head has more aggresive cams? That's why B16 was chosen to be the head rather that B18.
