Hi guys,

Just after some advice: has anyone out there had experience with a GruppeM intake? And do you need to remap your ECU (D16Y4) to get the full potential out of any intake or exhaust modifications...

with the ECU i read somewhere you'd have to reset it to get the best settings or whatever (dont know anything about ECUs) but one of my mate said for the best bang for the buck, one particular hondata kit for our motor would be very useful in getting extra performance out

just install it and run it and enjoy the noise
not gonna make much of a difference
just reset the ecu if you want to do anything

Alvis theres about 2 people i know who have these intakes!

more popular one is the Mugen for enclosed and thats blk_shadows car. There is also the ARC intake or if u want something open the Injen

i'll be installing one on my EM1 though once i put it on!

Thanks Xposed - yeh it's funny I've just been speaking to Jay (from Sales) - nice bloke too.

Would i need to fit a b-series intake pipe because I believe the b-series intake pipe (before the throttle body) is 65mm but the d-series is 60mm? OR can i buy a silicone 60mm reducer/adaptor to ensure it fits to my existing intake pipe?

This is the only thing I'm not sure about...

haha thanks, thats actually me

yeh the adapters will fix that problem on piping sizes. You grab these from supercheap for $11 which changes sizes and might have to buy clamps too. like $2.

You won't need to replace piping as gruppem doesn't rely on that, it relies on the chassis itself. OEM piping will be fine, although when i got spare $$ if i do fit it in will probably grab some generic piping to bling it even more hahaha

Over the long weekend i actually got my car ready for the gruppem intake and removed the stock piping and bought some DIY from bunnings

they will connect to this

although having issues with one of the pipings which ill fix this weekend as front on it looks to obvious and may just have it feeding of 1 pipe with a seperator.

Atm 1 pipe is direct to the stock box other is through the chassis hole going nowehere but when i get a gruppem in there it should fix up.

Ahhhh! Oh wow - sure is a small world!!!

Good on you tho, looks like you've been busy and getting there with your EM1 - should look hot when you get it installed! How good do they look!

Thanks for confirming piping sizes as well - and yep, that was pretty much the only thing I was worried about. And good to see it doesn't rely on the actual intake tube to fit. The other good thing is - and something that makes me feel much more comfortable about the GruppeM - is the actual mouth of the pipe doesn't sit in the front guard (like most of the other - even Mugen) and really reduces any chance whatsoever of water ingestion in the engine.

I still have to take my stock airbox out, but had a little set back this wkend with an X5 BMW's 19" rim deciding to hit my front mud guard - not happy!

I'll work out some finances shortly and be in touch

Thanks mate,
