Dude that is what I was thinking.... looks like a mix between the lanos and some kind of Citroen!!

S2000 inspired front..... man even with my contacts out I could tell that has nothing to resemble a S2k front.

Long live the EF EG and EKs!

Yet another line of Civics ruined. This thing is a disgrace. Looks like a Lanos/4 year old Corrolla. :honda: :thumbdwn:

This make me love my EK even more. Last of the good Civics IMO. Hang on, why such a decline? They produced 3 consecutive lines of GOOD Civics. What the bloody hell happened????

P.S. Loving that name bigdongers. Cracking me up - which is needed as broken right foot = shit.

Usual Suspect

looks like a bloody corolla. But i think they are saying that is the hatch version and the coupe, which isnt pictured has an s2000 inspired front.

NO way. Yeah that "2006 civic" looks like utter crap but i think that the ep3 would have to be the best looking civic. I hope that this isn't true because its just really really really shite lookin (could have added a few more really's there :D )

Yeah, baffles me why they need licensed plates to test a car on an enclosed track though

bring the new civic.
just makes my generation 2 crx look better

Looks like Honda have really got excited with their recent success of Euro and Oddessy, and decided to slap on the front lights to a civic, it just doesn't do it for me. Any details as yet of the specs? Type R specs? I know i know it's very early days but worth asking...

i gotta agree though, the ek was the last nice civic. but i will always love my gen 2 crx

They've gotta go back to what was successful IMO. Go back to the EG or EK shape. The Civic of today is too much like a ppl mover - like a Nimbus. Make them sleek, low to the ground and more sports orientated. I produce better looking things from out of my arse. :thumbdwn:

i'm starting to hate honda....wont make another CRX, stopping sales of type R's in aus, bringing 'acura' here, the continual grandma-isation of all the cars :(

how ya meant to kit an aftermarket exhaust on that without leaving 2 triangle holes in ya rear bar? (me thinks honda doesnt wanna see any aftermarket parts on these things)

i guess we shouldn't just judge them by their changes of direction.
every car was an experiment including the good cars like S2000, if they never went in that direction, there probably wouldn't be a S2000 for us to play with.
maybe we should just observe their advancements.

it looks hardcore like a peugot 206.

It seems to me that honda is trying too hard to be a lexus at a cheaper price and sucking up to the European styling in the process.

I personaly think those lights were highly expected car companies tend to make their lineup of cars similar to each other in SOME respects so that they are readily identifiable with each other. See for example the Mazdas right now...they all have VERY similar tail and front lights

THe Euro lights were on the accord, MDX and Ody, so it probably might be on the civic...

Personally i dont hate it...much... as long as the thing comes out with DOHC VTEC, doesnt even have to be an R, just DOHC VTEC

Funny you should say that, Ive heard that Honda in general is trying to break away from the street racing / illegal culture, where as mitsubishi and other japanese car manufacturers are embracing it bringing out sporty, sleek new designs which target the young youth market enthuisest, meaning they rely on this demographic to generate sales now and in the years to come.
Imo i think honda have gone wrong with this model civic if they do research and development in europe and and break away from everything that honda has built up over the years, which is there own individual styling, some of the best innovations in car technology,a world leader, the list goes on they will loose a big portion of there sales, and eventually turn into toyota.
i dont need to say what we all do when we see a camery on the rd do i.

if i could id slap the guy that developed this styling and hopefully kncck some sense into him.....if you could'nt tell im not a fan

Well - at least the EP owners won't have the dubious honour of having the "ugliest Civic ever" title when this fugly piece of crap hits the road :D

**Ghost**
28-11-2004, 11:46 AM
ummmmm i dont really see nissan embracing the sportiness thing? i mean sure they got the 350z, which rocks, but ntohing else? but since the new pulsar is due in like a few months maybe things will change

mitsu may be doing just that as they seem to be hell bent to mivec everything nowdays... mivec lancer is coming next year + a proper manual colt turbo i heard

sigh.... honda sucks atm, but i still reckon the civic could save the scene for hondas in australia if it had DOHC, 100kw + and a nice chassis... it would be something like the eg si/vti... which ppl embraced

**Ghost**
28-11-2004, 11:48 AM
but has neone actually conisdered with the demise of the B-Series engines (due to emission laws, etc etc) the reason honda has not brought out any sport models for the 7th gen civic in Australia and most of the world was cos of the lack of engines?

I mean besides from the K20 theres ntohing else... K24 is way too big. I do tend to think we might get a "below Type R" (ie: VTIR) civic again in australia if honda manages to produce an engine that doesnt compete with the Teggy Type S. Is there such a thing? K16A maybe|?

Setanta
28-11-2004, 08:39 PM
demise of the B-Series engines (due to emission laws, etc etc)
Isn't the K20 in the CTR a LEV motor? I would have thought it would be fine with emission.

**Ghost**
28-11-2004, 11:40 PM
i dont "think" so... in any case fuel economy would be an issue as well for a civic base model. I highly highly doubt we will EVER get a CTR. Best we can hope for would be a civic Si/VTIR. But i think honda is unwilling (at least in Australia) to have k20 in a civic, cos that would mean the integra was overpriced. especially when considering the base teggy only spouts 110kw from factory.

honda needs to make another smaller K for the civic/uber jazz. otherwise its going to get trumped by the new lancers, colt, mazda 3, new pulsar (which i read has AUtech or something, basically VTEC for nissans)

i mean even if Honda wants to move away from the street scene, it still needs to have powerful cars. Even my mum, who has never ever got ONE single demerit point in her life, wants a powerful car, to the extent where she's would say (when comparing a Accord Euro with a Maxima) "but the maxima has more power"

not the greatest lookin civic around, i agree, once the EK left the shelves it started going downhill...

02-12-2004, 02:34 PM
I personally agree that the car in the shot is ugly. As many have already stated, it looks more like the concept of a new Daewoo Lanos and not a Honda Civic. Whilst we everyone is dissing it, it is still in it's concept stage and alot of the cosmetics will be updated upon the showroom release. Maybe not quite eye candy at the moment but I don't think it'll be all that bad once it hits the showroom. Might take awhile to get used to by I think it's possible that it could grow on ya's! When the EK's first came out i thought they weren't the flavour of the month either but once it grows on ya, it's not that bad.

Anyways, quite ugly right now... wonder what it'll look like in the showroom?

I agree the ep3 was the sexiest honda to date (except the shifter position!! :( ) but the ADM 4 door model is nearly just as ugly... looks like a miny bus!
