My engine is D16A8 right now, if I wanna convert to a B16 head and B20 how much would it cost? Power of these things? How many seconds do B20 usually run?
If my budget is tight and not getting a B20, just gonna get a B16B? How much would everything cost all together?
Then after could I do a B20 on the B16? How much would that cost after?

Dude.
You need to go find a mechanic that does these sort of swaps regularly. It is way to hard to give you a price, a power figure or a quater-mile time because every car, engine and mechanic will be completely different.
Do you want to do track work, dragging or just street the car? Because that will effect what engine you want and just about everything else to do with your car.
Once you know your budget and exactly what you want from your car, go see a good mechanic and talk to them. They will hopefully point you in the direction you want.
good luck.

what is your budget thats the main question.
a b20vtec conversion would be cheaper then buying a b16b.
have a talk with some of the people that have b20vtec

myself
pm those guys (except myself) and they can give you some sort of price range on how much is what and what you will need for parts.
then go from there i would suggest save up casue b20vtec can cost abit if u want more power..

Not entirely true. It depends whether you have a B16/B18 engine where you can recycle parts from, otherwise, you have to buy everything.
An example, you're coming off a D16 base, none of which can be utilised in a B20 build - So what do you have to do?
1) B Series gearbox
2) B series head (If comparing cost to a B16B, then need Cams and springs as well)
3) Headers
4) Distributor
5) Intake manifold + throttle body
6) probably need pistons for the B20, maybe rods (can prolly reuse the crank)
7) Head Gasket
8) B20 Conversion kit
9) cost of servicing the block/head
10) water pump? Oil pump?
11) Overhaul gasket kit
12) Vtec solenoid (most heads don't come complete with this)
13) Programmable ECU
14) LSD for the gearbox (comparing it to a B16B alternative right?)
15) fuel regulator
16) uprated fuel pump
17) engineer's cert (if you want to do it properly)
18) Clutch + master pump
19) Flywheel
I think the cost can easily exceed $4K ~ $5K if you're starting from scratch.
But of course when you're done, if done properly, you have something prolly more powerful than a B16B - but no, I don't think a B20 is any cheaper.

Agree with Leo, to do a B20vtec properply the first time it will cost more than a straight forward b16b conversion. But you gota remember, your b20vtec will have Aftermarket Headers, exhaust, CAI, ECU +tune. Thats where the extra cost is incurred in a B20vtec swap
With the b16b you can basically use everything, straight drop in and away you go. But when you want to do the usual bolt-ons later on like H/I/E the cost will be roughly the same
If you had the money, B20vtec, but if your strap for cash and want to go cheap start with the B16b

stock b20vtec will piss all over a b16b

if you don't want the hassel, i'd get the b18c over the b16b, even with mild work it will be close to a b20, and if you wanna do a b20, then there are only a few things needed to be done.
If you one a budget, get a b16a and drive it around until you can do the b20.

B16A then b20vtec is the best way to do it if you're short for funds.
how much for a b16a swap?

and 50 for labour GSI PSI
if you want b20 add another 50 dollars on GSI PSI price and you should be done

oh ye.. soz chris
add another 100 dollars on too that as tuning is prob the most critical part of the b20vtec setup :)

i think its wiser to do ur whole setup in one go or else ur gonna be wasting money on unnecessary separate tuning.. or buy the parts bit by bit according to ur income.. if u want my brother has a performance engine shop in guildford and has about 3 b20b8's lying around and heaps of b18s and b16s lying around if u wanted he could put one together for you as theyre just collecting dust atm. and if u want he can do the whole conversion for you.. let me know
