Model of my Civic??

Hi All!

I dont know very much about cars, so I thought someone might be able to clear something up for me. I have a 98 Civic Hatchback, which i have owned for about 3 months now and has given me no problems, besides needing a new battery. However, what does it mean when the tag under the bonnet says its a 1998 Civic four-door Sedan? The person I bought it from was not the first owner and was unable to give me the cars service history. I also got a really good deal on it, which is also unsettling. Is this something I should worry about?

If its a hatch it cant be 4door sedan...

wat i mean is why would it say four door sedan when it is obviously not one?

Perhaps it got a replacement hood from a sedan for one reason or another - previous accident maybe.

I didnt think the sedan hood was compatible with the hatch...maybe that was only with EG's?

Not too sure though. Someone else might be able to help.

mmm.. it shud say EK1 OR EK4, are u talkin about the lil blue plate, im not sure mate.. any other suspicious signs, did u get the car checked out by Nrma or similar?

nah the blue plate says ek1 (by the way, what does that mean?). im talking bout the silver one on the side.

how much did you pick it up for?
you can check the cars history with the rta
if its been registered into the rta as a write-off before it will show up

haha im no bro..im a girl (which explains why i know so little). i picked it up for 12k with a years worth of insurance. wat is a half cut...i may not know much but it doesnt sound 2 good

lolz half cut meen they take parts out of the frunt of the other canr and poot it in u yours so u get a fasted engin and stuff like that lolz plz tell me if im wrong but i think its somptyhing like that :D im a crazy mofo so i dono lolz i nerly hit a bus 2 day it honked @ me so i agev him da finger it was the high point of my day good luck trying 2 find the stuff ud like 2 know

all EK96-98 is compatible with each other regardless of sedan, hatch or coupe. :thumbsup:

hi there,

i think you dont need to be overly worried about it. the bonnet may be taken off from another car which means they might have gotten into an accident before and being replaced. but the bonnets are interchangeable between sedan, hatch and coupe.. so i guess dont worry too much

ok thanks guys. btw, im not sure if i have been misunderstood, but wen i said under the bonnet, i didnt mean literally under the bonnet, i meant on the tag that is attached to the side of the body wen u open the bonnet..i cant tell whether u guys understood this or not =p

also, this may sound stupid but what are the biggest rims that will fit on my car without scraping? is it worthwhile to buy secondhand ones or should i just get them new? where are the best places to look for second hand ones?

im goin shopping for eyelids soon, how much will they set me back to buy and paint?

regarding your car, you can go to:

halfcut is when the front/rear of the car is swapped, bolted onto a different

car. so say a car crashed head on, so the rear is fine but the front is not so

fine, they source the front from wherever and bolt it onto the remaining car
which was involved in the accident.

regarding rims, i wouldnt go anything bigger then 17 just for the practicality

reason and cheaper tyres. im sure someone here could clear it up. eyelids?

well painting it wouldnt be that much would it? $100?? but if you gonna get

the lid painted, i strongly recommend painting the strip around the car to

make it into one tone instead of 2 tones. :wave:

i would personally go for good 2ndz for rims. why pay so much for something that'll be trashed on the streets. grinz just be sure it's structurally strong and clean and all.

okies, cool. so how do i go about looking for 2nd hand ones and was that comment bout my eyelids sarcastic or do u like them? i think they look amazing on the 98 civic lights

i have a 92 civic and there's a wallpaper on my laptop now. it's got the mags i like, kit i like, color i like... hahah AND EYELIDS!!!!!

i reckon you could put an ad in the Wanted section in OH or just pull anyone on the street over to ask if they've seen any eyelids for your car... *grinz* don't think you'll do the latter tho. lol ads mate, that's the way.
