so i've gone through the workshop manual and it doesn't seem to mention where to or even the need to have sealant

i've read in numerous places you just need it in specific places

now i'm wondering do i need any? and if i do where are these 'specific places' that i need to do?

You're supposed to apply it in one continuous bead around the oil pan surface that meets the engine block. When you come across the bolt holes, you apply the sealant along the inner path of the bolt hole.

If torqued properly and evenly, you shouldnt need any sealant on a b series sump, honda dont.

thats what i thought slaz
8.7ft-lbs starting from the rear center>front>timing belt 2 bolts>2 bolts under flywheel cover and that was it?
the new gasket is meant to do the rest of the job sealing

Thats it, just make sure both surfaces are nice and clean and the sump hasnt taken any hits on the flange and you;ll be sweet. The gasket has inserts around the bolt holes that stop if from deforming but if you yank them up enough, it'll distort and then leak.

Hope this helped.
