thats a hole in the block, cos thats the oil filter right above it.
id steer clear from it, unless there was parts that you wanted from that wreck

You can't repair that bottom end. You might be able to salvage it for parts, but can't guarantee that the other parts were not fcked up when whatever shot out that block to make that hole. Stay away from it.

not only the hole in the bottom, but imagine how the whole engine has been treated if its got a hole in the block, i wouldnt even use it for parts apart from parts that wouldnt be damaged from flogging the car.

probably^^

60A Street
75A Track
85A Race
95A Extreme
SOLID BILLET

what would be the differences between those mounts for a kseries?

believe it or not.

you would probably get away with the 60a's for the street.
75A's are more solid, so you would want to use them if you do some track work.
If you are a racer...then go for the 85A's.
95A is very extreme and quite solid.
SOLID BILLET are the most extreme and are totally SOLID.

solid as in no vibrations etc ? innovativemounts have the solid billet at the same price as the 75a, 85a and 95a. why wouldnt epople just go with the billet instead of the others ?

More solid = more vibrations = harsher = more noise = less comfort

Having 150kgs of metal vibrating and moving at 8500 revolutions per minute directly and solidly attached to you with no dampening is not everyone's idea of ride comfort.

Ever been gokarting? Those engines rattle the whole chassis and weigh about 15kg. Your ass and arms are sore after 10 minutes.

could the puncture be from the chassis piercing the block in an accident?? why is everyone assuming its from mistreating the engine. the head/intake/clutch etc could be fine

longchim
16-10-2009, 03:26 PM
ahhh okay i see. but for comfort of the 60a what would we be sacrificing?

ps. apologies for the questions LOL need to know...this is the noob section after all.

could be, but considering where that hole is, wouldnt it be a bit diificult to do ?

if that was in England they'd bloody stitch weld the hole up, not something they do in oz at all

I watched a pom down the road do a similar repair to his sr he's had since 91' worked well and still works

I'd be inclined to offer him alot less money as it's alot of work/expensive
