hey

I was wondering how to get my tail lights tinted on my EG.. I've seen some where the quality was totally shit and some that looked pro.

what i meant by shit is it turned out very "smokey, matte black" or whatever
and what i meant by pro is it turned out very glossy and trasparent..

thanks.

Get the film tint, specifically made for tail lights.
Check out this thread. Hopefully someone posted pricing: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97879&highlight=smoked

Its how u spray it that gives a good finish..

take off the tails, give it a good 1200+wetsand, wax n grease remover, hten give it some light sprays with the tint like 1 layer, then if ur using the K&H brand clear, do one layer nice n thick

Use a spray can called night shade from supercheap auto it will give you the finish your after but it also depends on your preping and how you spray it.

Agree!! Mine look elegant. It is not the same as painting body parts.
You need just a light smoke.

you mixed clear yellow and smoke together or the indicators are already yellow? are the results rough or smooth?

I also checked out a place at burwood called motoequipe, the sell lens dye, they come in smoke, amber and red.. I was thinking would the result be pro once its in a finished product condition..?

the indicators were yellow already, i just used "smoke" over the top, sanded them down a bit with 800-1000-1200 than 3 light coats.
It was a pain to do the inner and outer to the same level, until i realised i should do them at the same time :p

the finish is pretty smooth, i didn't clear coat anything and so far it's fine, been about 3 months

Isn't tinting your lights illegal?

Not when its not that dark. I've asked some coppers which pulled me over several times for RBT, they said its fine as long as its visible day and night.
