Hey guys,
I'm asking on behalf of a friend who had just purchased an EG for a project car.
He wants to put b18 in it within the next couple of months but he's worried that it won't pass the blue slip.
Also he wants to know how much would it cost to get it engineered.

shouldnt need it because its only going up 200CC above the highest factory standard, but if you have to engeineer it if you leave all the componets stock then you should be able to get a certificate after passing the brake test noise test and inspection and a full certificate should only cost about $200 dollars
Dont be afraid to ask questions and talk to an engeineer to see what they will and wont do for you.

Thanks for the reply.
He's just worried because of all the horror stories from out other friends who had engine conversions and apparently had to pull out their engines etc etc.
Damn $200 is cheap! :) I thought getting a car full engineered would cost around $1000. Lucky him then.

PS - Are we able to acquire an engineering certificate from the everyday mechanic or will we have to go to a specialist?

I think you will need to find a licensed mechanic that can issue an engineering cert which is another license they hold, Not all licensed mechanic can issue engineering cert.
*Correct me if im wrong.
i recommend that you or your friend try a local mechanic first, its either they can issue one but Im guessing they can definately hook you up with one.
