I recently purchased a totally stock DC2. This car has no modifications at all; in fact it doesn't even have a CD player. I'm after some ideas for some tasteful modifications. Any suggestions?

I'm keen to install a small beagleboard (www.beagleboard.org) I purchased OS with some sort of touch screen attached and have it as my vehicles media hub. I also have a Tomtom Go 510 which can easily hacked to have the GPS data sent via the serial port to the beagleboard to have 'built-in' nav.

Has anyone else done anything similar? If so, I would like your feedback even some pictures if possible?

Further to this I'm wondering how someone can go about installing, again, a tasteful sound system (small sub, etc).

Thanks for your feedback.

Cheers

The first step is actually to deaden all the panels with stinger roadkill mats or something similar. The DC2 is extremely noisy once rolling along. I know from experience.

Work on sticking mats to the inner door panels, boot floor under and around the spare tyre, and maybe even under the rear seats, which are quite easy to remove.

Any audio system installations won't sound their best in the car until you've done some work on the listening environment.

That said, congrats on finding a clean DC2! Very uncommon these days. A stock DC4 is easier to find.

i personally think deadening everything is a bit of over kill. my dc4, which im guessing would sound the same when rolling as a dc2 isnt that noisy. depends on how loud your exhaust is and how much it drones.

as to sound system, youre interior panels will rattle depending how loud you have your music, once i turn mine up loud enough i cant hear the rattling anymore so it doesnt bother me :). but when daily driving i have treble and bass setting adjusted so i dont get any rattling. someone advised me i can put foam blocks behind my interior panels to stop them rattling. also note if you get a decent system with bass right up and up nice and loud, most the exterior panels will vibrate.
