Hi Guys,

I have a 05 Lux, just had it serviced few weeks ago.

have noticed for a while now that the air con takes a very long time until you feel noticeable cold air and even then it wouldn't be considered cold enough to air con standards (lowest setting)

i've recently had my euro serviced (bout 3 weeks ago) noticed they checked all the air con and gas levels etc. on the service report yet no instructions on having anything replaced...

even after having it checked, could it still be depleting? do i need to get the air con re-gassed (if that's what they do?)

with summer coming up would really like to get it fixed.

Thanks!

Did they change any belts? Could be an issue with the compressor.

didn't change any belts, and it's listed in the service report that they checked the compressor...

any other ideas?

should i take it to a third party place to check my air con? if so how much do you think a check up will cost?

thanks.

I would check the compressor clutch, the cooling fins under the dash and the expansion valve. The expansion valve is difficult to check though.

as i'm mechanically clueless, should i just bring into a mechanic? or are there specialty air con places? anyone know how much they will charge?

Take it to an air con specialist or a good auto electrician. For a check and regas approx.$100

Yes, like Tony1234 said, bring it to an aircon specialist and they can check everything. The dealer's mechanics might have missed something.

It is now against the law to just "regass" the system. The Greeny branch of the Government has declared that all systems for repair must be checked for leaks before any new gas is added which now means paying up to $100 upfront for a diagnosis and leak test before any repairs are done.

Yes, but if there are repairs to be made, the aircon specialist usually takes the $100 you spent on the diagnosis off the cost of the repair. So you will be fine if something needs to be fixed, but out of pocket by $100 if there was no problem to begin with.
