DC2R gear oil vs engine oil

hey guys, just wondering do the dc2r's take gear oil or engine oil in the gearbox??? because im getting two different opinions from different mechanics. I currrently have gear oil in it, but my gears are crunching (2nd to 3rd) & (3rd to 4th).. synchros are affect.

lol engine oil?. Na mate you need gearbox oil they use a different blend

is there some sort of database i can access to get this info. because one of the mechanics showed me a book that he had with the different models of hondas. and it said 'MO.. for the transmission.. "motor oil"

From what i read in some article, apparently the OEM Honda engine oil was originally used as the gearbox oil.
If i can dig up the article i'll post it here.
