Hey guys,

I just replaced my pioneer head unit with an alpine one. I connected all the wires and checked that it was working but after when i taped all the wires up and tested again, there was no power going through. I've also checked the fuse and none of them were blown up. Why is there no power going through to the head unit and also my clock on my dash board is also not working...

Cheers

check the fuse under the bonnet, you've shorted a wire somewhere. bet your interior light doesn't work either...

get a test light and check if your constant power is working. etc etc you will eventually find it, and check all your fuses as well under your steering wheel

what icacha said... check your fuses, the stereo one, cig lighter one, interior light one, anything that comes on with accessories just to be safe as theyre usually a parrallel circut, you should connect the wires one by one, soldering and taping them up as you go to avoid this, having your earth, accessories, constant etc.. all exposed at the same time is asking for trouble, hope you get it sorted!

The constant light isn't working and I have checked the fuses, they are all fine. :S

have you checked under the bonnet as ICACHA mentioned ?

I reckon you have blown the back up fuse 7.5A

I've only checked under the steering wheel but i'll check again tomorrow to make sure none of them are blown and let you guys know.

Guys, i've checked the fuses today, they were all fine, none of them were blown but still the constant wire is not working therefore no power is going thru to the head unit and no digital time is being displayed on the dashboard and btw the interior light still works.

Then you have a break somewhere in the car as the constant for the radio, the memory for the clock and the interior light are off the same fuse which is located under the bonnet. Maybe seek the expertise of an auto elec. to find out where the break is...

run a direct wire from your amp if you want it up and running, and fix up your constant break later on,

but as said above, give it to and electrician they will fix it up 100%

Ohh damn.. you guys reckon I can get it fixed at an audio installation place and how much would it cost?

would be a labour thing, so depending on what they charge per hour, 70 to 90 bucks, auto sparky will be more though

If you want to save the money. Why dont you take the whole dash off and reconnect everything again. Also make sure the pins of the harness are all correctly matched.

I still think you've done the 7.5A fuse under the bonnet? Double check that one. Most common problem.
