i use Mobil 1 gold... and have used synthetic for the entire life of the car, but i dont think you would need to do so...
Castrol Edge Sport is reviewed as a great oil, grab the 10w30. Depending on the life your car has had it might be worthwhile grabbing a couple of bottles of cheap oil and running them through the motor for 2 weeks each then changing oil and finter before you go for a good quality oil... the two bottles will act as a "flush of sorts" without the harshness of a dedicated engine flush which may dislodge dirt too aggressively and cause potential leaks.

for all fluids....i recommend and use Honda products.
Honda FEO oil 10w-30w
Honda MTF 06 (gearbox fluid)
Honda ATF ( auto gearbox fluid)
Honda type 2 coolant
etc

I use Castrol Edge also, though buy it in bulk when it's on sale; same price as FEO, and fully synthetic. Works fine and engine seems to rev nicely.
Might have to give this MTF gearbox oil a further look into.

hi guys,

That is not true. 15w is the viscosity at -18 ºC, which is not relevant to your operating temperature. If you get 0w-30, 5w-30, 10w-30, 0w-40, 5w-40 or 10w-40 as a starting point, that is the safest. Then if you find that you are burning oil, you check your PCV valve and replace it. If it still burns after that, then you can look at a 10w-50 oil or 15w-50 oil.

You are quoting the first number, which is the viscosity at -18 ºC. The second number is the important one at operating temperature as that is the viscosity at 100 ºC. For example, a 10w-30 oil will be ok for your car but a 10w-60 oil will cause poor flow around the engine in areas with tight tolerances.
