Hey guys,

My mate's DC2 got keyed tonight when he parked it down the street from my place. Usually he'd park it in our driveway or at least infront of the house but we have heaps of other cars here tonight. My street is pretty damn quiet and dark too. It seems as though its been keyed right through the clear cloat. Front bar, a door and quarter panel. Each ranging from 30 - 50cm in length. I feel really bad for him.

What should be done? Should we just do it privately or via insurance. He's insured but only third party with Just Cars (fire and theft as well). Excess is I believe $1000 and $350 for if stolen or fire damaged.

Regards,

Duck

I thought third party doesnt cover your own car? but bad luck mate, I got keyed too... fixed mine privately.

You have to get it done privately.

Third party doesn't cover your car in this circumstance.

Must be fixed privately. If you think it's gone through the clear coat then just try a cut and polish in case you surprise yourself (I once did). You have nothing to lose trying that.

If you're right re: clear coat then get it resprayed/blended.

if you can run your fingernail down the keyed line then get a respray.
if not then you may be able to cut and polish to remove the keyed lines

check your policy, some TTPD policies have malicious damage coverage...
