Hi, i'm Mike and i own this 1990 aus spec ed9 CRX, i thought i'll share with you guys some of the mods that i've done to my baby!
I've noticed in the past that, when i search the net for DIY's, it's mostly US people modding their USDM CRX's!!! Not that there's anything wrong with the states, i know that most of the stuff is probably done in the same way anyways but thats not the point, it's the fact that no one has done it in australia on a audm ED9 yet that makes me a bit wary and unsure about doing it!
So i've decided to post up a few how to's up, over time just to help some of you guys out, for those that wanted to do it but just needed that tiny winy push of motivation and to see someone else do it first! I'm that someone! Just so you have an idea of some of the mods that will be included.. Complete DC2 type R 5stud conversion, DC2 type R 1" master cylinder and booster, DC2 type R cluster conversion & my current project, JDM ef8 SiR front end conversion! Yes! all this done on my aus spec ed9!
Here's a few pictures..

I've always wanted to get spoon brakes, now i can! :D (waiting for them to get here from japan, a bit slow cause its coming over by ship) I CAN'T WAIT!

and 5 stud wheels! (and my white 16x7 Rays TE37's +42offset) I CAN JUST DIE!
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02998.jpg
I couldn't have type R running gear without type R 1" MC & BB! It wasn't easy to source and install but was all worth it in the end!

I love this cluster!

Sexii :p
I will post up the Type R Cluster, 5 stud and Master cylinder conversions "How To's" later down the track, right now i'm in the middle of my JDM ef8 SiR front end conversion so i'll post up some of the pictures from that!
here's a quick preview of my work...
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02956.jpg
Here you can see the differents between the two headlights! Top is SiR and bottom is the Si..
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02917.jpg
I test fitted on just one SiR headlight on the left side so you can see, right headlight and hood is Si..
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02905.jpg
You'll also be needing this Tbar/rad support from japan only, if you want to close your raised SiR hood properly, i know its far away on the land of the rising sun but trust me, it's not impossible!! Like i said before, it's all worth it in the end, bolt and play styles, oem fitment is the way to go... Perfect!!! The SiR front end comes out more, about an inch! Top t-bar is for the SiR hood, here you can see the latch hole is positioned further forward, the bottom one is for the Si hood! The orginal ef8 SiR rad support/T-bar won't work on our ed9, i'll explain everything when i do the full detailed, "HowTo's" later down the track...
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02970.jpg
Top=Si Bottom=SiR
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02972.jpg
You'll need these bumper support brackets also for the same reason as the last, SiR nose/engine bay comes out more, about an inch more.. The left bracket is for the SiR bar and the right is for the Si.. You can see the differents here...
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02936.jpg
Left is Si and right is the SiR, not much different from the top..
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02939.jpg
From the front the SiR bar seems taller but it's not, the SiR lip is making it look a bit taller but really its the same..
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02940.jpg
But from the side view you can clearly see that the SiR bar comes out more forward then the Si...
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC02934.jpg
SiR front bar.. much more sexier IMO!
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC03049.jpg
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC03046.jpg
Prepping time.. use a lower grit sand paper like 180 or 120 to sand down all the marks and scratches...
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC03045.jpg
This is what i'm working with..
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC03059.jpg
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii274/annas2mike/DSC03060.jpg
Then use 240 grit paper and smooth over the whole surface of the bar, so that the smoothness is consistent though out the bar... Now it's ready for paint!
I'll be posting up full detailed DIY threads soon, not only about the large jobs but also the little ones like glass headlights and corner lamps restorations, traction bars installations and koyo half size radiator installations! All for the audm ed9 CRX!!!
