hello again ppls.
not sure if i got a dilama or not, but i got a b16a in my ek with a B16b comp. now im not sure if its normal but is Vtec meant to kick in at 6500rpm.
in my previous car it kicked in at 4200rpm but that was with a normal b16a comp.

also, the previous owner wasnt sure if it had a b16b head on a b16a bottom end, how can i tell the diff, is there any markings, i presume its a b16a but it would be bonus if it was a b16b

thanks

Hey Norm,
If the ECU is std, you're looking for a stuffed MAP sensor or blocked intake.
(That & the tacho may be optomistic)

B16B head is PR3 same as B16A.
The only external difference visually is a bt of green paint near the top dissy boss.
If you take off the rocker cover & have a quick look inside...
The LMA's are different to std EK4 VtiR,
There are double valve springs one Ex for Type R.
Cams are different too...

B16B is same block as B18C - 7mm taller in deck height than B16A
