What is the widest tire you have fitted to your Civic/Crx?

I'm looking at getting 225/50ZR16 tires for my wheels and want to know if I will have any problems. The car isn't lowered much so there shouldn't be any guard problems, worried about the inside wall and upper A-Arm rubbing :?

How wide are your rims?

I have 205/45/16 on 7" wide rims and on full lock (right and left) the inside of the rim rubs the lower control arm i think it was.

195x50x15 - about as wide as I want to go in terms of performance.

Biggest I've had is 205x60x13 Dunlop Le Mans J2s on a SBC ('76) Civic.

Don't get me started on tyres I ran on my SLR5000 when I was younger :P

Well, you got 205's at the moment right? The 225's should be ok but you will lose your full lock capability and will have to adjust the camber (which means uneven tyre wear).

Isn't there anyone here that has run 225's on a Civic or CRX?

hey dood,
i used to run 225/40/16's on my civic and i don't recommend it to be honest. its like the wheels have there own mind and when parts of the road are curvy or uneven, then its like all over the place and you really have to hold the wheel tight to get it back on track. nearly had a few accidents myself.

now i'm running 215/35/18's and its better, but still does it sometimes on really bad roads.

i reccomend 205's to be honest.

I've talked myself out of buy 225's now anyway... I'm going to get 215/50 or 215/44.

The rim's I have a 7" wide.

Now, to another thing... which tires to buy?

Apparently Falken GRB's are not made anymore... so I'm trying to find something else with very good grip, but won't run out of thread like the Azenis...
