just wondering if anyone has expierenced lack of torque in 2nd gear in a manual euro... when I compare it to other gears it just doesnt feel the same..

cheers

Can't say that I have noticed anything odd. Drives smoothly up through the gears regardless of change point.

In which range of revs are you referring to? And do you mean at wide open throttle at this rev range?

Given that the Euro likes quite a few revs on board, if you were to change to second too early (from a performance point of view) of course it would feel sluggish until about 3,000 or 4,000 revs were on board.

Im pretty sure I would be shifting at somthing like 3,000 rpm... I dont know if its just me.. is it worth changing the gear box oil to see how it will effect it? Im newb btw lol

i think it is just the nature of the gearbox, the 2nd gear on accord euros are very long and it takes time for the revs to build up, i think thats the issue he is referring to.

Just shift at a higher rpm in 1st gear if you want more power in 2nd

I thought is was somthing to do with as the car is from factory... because I have heard the k24 box's are tuff.. would still like to hear peoples opinions on this though

cheers.

that hasnt got anything to do with te k24 engine, its definately a good engine. The transmission is designed for fuel economy and the 2nd gear has quite a long gear ratio, therefore you dont feel that 'pull' until 3-4k revs at least. Especially if you start from 2nd gear, so dont shift too early.

hmm... even when I have reved out 2nd gear to around 7,000 rpm it still has no where near as much of a "torque" feeling to it.. as what 3rd or 4th would be when reved out.

I think it's because 1st gear is a bit too short. So the ratio jump from 1st to 2nd is a bit greater than between other gears. The ratio jumps from 3.266 to 1.88.

oh ok.. makes sence.. you wouldnt happen to know all the ratio's for every gear would you?

2nd gear above 3500rpm on mine is the best out of all the gears. :p

1st 3.533
2nd 1.88
3rd 1.354
4th 1.027
5th 0.825
6th 0.659
Reverse 3.583
Final 4.388

i love 2nd gear, especially for a quick slap of power when needed!

x2 :)

As like others have said the feeling of lack of torque probably comes from the fact that 2nd is so long. The gearbox is so smooth but the ratio's in the cl9 leave alot to be desired imo

The thing is, eventhough 2nd gear is long, it is still shorter than 3rd and 4th gear. ;)

I wonder what kind of track is long enough for you to see 3rd gear out to 7000rpm!

On Wakefield's main straight, I hit 7200rpm in 3rd and change to 4th for about 3 seconds before having to brake.

If you get a half decent set of headers you'll notice an improvement in the dip in power in 2nd.

Do your flywheel; you feel a surge of power from any RPM in 2nd after it.

oh ok.. have you had the same problem/ feeling with yours?
