Do a bit of a search. It's not that hard. :)

Thats just one result. One guy has a 2.5". So 2.25 should be fine.

apparently 2.25 is close to what a stock exhaust is for the euro... so Im goin 2.5.. should be alright with the new mufflers and everything...

EG K24's run 3 inch...
I guess it depends on what you will do in the future... or whats already done...

Are you just looking for the sound?
If you're looking for performance go headers + cat.

to be honest, if all you have is an injen intake, installing a 2.25 or 2.5 inch catback will almost result in no performance gain, ive tried it before and felt no difference.
Even a high flow cat would give you more gain, and like others have said change the headers and you will definately feel a huge difference. If you are after sound, you can change the mufflers.
But in regarding to your question, a 2.5 inch setup is better as it will give you more flow, but i think you should change your catback after you change your headers/cat because no point having a bottleneck in between, if you dont plan to change headers than dont bother changing catback, it will be a waste of money

you are asking inner diameter or outer diameter of pipe?
japanese catback normally measured using inner diameter.
local made usually is using outer diameter.
so you will get two answer from two perspective

the stock exhaust has good flow..so no need 2 change if ur afta performance..as many others have said do headers and cat first to improve performance. changing de cat for me made the most noticeable difference.

my muffler guy told me the Exhaust is fine as is and making it bigger is a waste of time and money but the mufflers at the back restrict it and changing them will make it sound nicer but also improve Ever so slightly
i have just muffler done at the moment and Extractors and Cat will be next some time lol
just dont know what brands to get and such

Are you saying the new cat gave better gains than new headers?

dtngo, well it's hard to say..i changed my headers first (DC copies) and i didnt feel much gain..followed by 5zigen dual cat back..it made a nice note and i think the response was better.
the last bit to change was the cat. i went with a universal metal core magnaflow cat. while i was at it i changed the flex pipe as well..basically the flex pipe to the cat back exhaust is 2.25". Once that was done, the exhaust became much louder..much louder than i expected..and from 3k rpm it flys to redline.

If you're in Sydney give Hakan at Performance Exhaust Centre a call. He's worked on mine extensively and the Touge Tune turbo Euro. Mention that Liam with the Euro sent you, it might not help but worth a shot :p

They all have to work in unison. The header is the most important part of the exhaust as it's the first restriction the exhaust gas meets, and it has to be very well designed to give good gains, compared to a cat which is much simpler.
Having not done each of them individually at different times, I'd have to say the header would make the most difference. Followed by the cat then the catback. But as I said; they work in unison. The cat will show a bigger gain if the header before it was already done. And the catback would show a better gain if everything before that was done.

As liam and the others have said,
Intake, Headers and CAT....
Don't waste money on exhaust unless you want a nicer tone or weight reduction.

Surprisingly, I noticed a big difference when I did my catback. Even more surprising is that the biggest difference was with cruising throttle <3500rpm. It's been speculated that the stock catback is good for about 120kW @ the wheels, and I definitely felt my top end in the last few 100rpms hold the torque a lot better. I can imagine if you had a header like Toda/Maxim or the Comptech/DC Sport etc then you could get away with the stock catback for a bit longer.
Because I have the bigger 2.5" collecter on my header I think my catback is a bit more important though, and god knows I need all the top end I can get to make up for my midrange :p

hahah weren't you running 2.5" straight through with hi flow cat?
reckon for OP, get 2.5" and you won't go wrong.
