all i do is service evry 5000 and check oil once a week but have never had to top up

u mad?

its pretty obvious that your vtec has fallen off.

but seriously, does your car warm up properly? maybe the thermostat has gone boo hence cold engine hence no vtakkk (long shot i know, im sure youre are aware of your engine temps)

nah it warms up after a few minutes of driving properly

id say oil pressure is probably a culprit of loss power and no vtak.

Get your vtec solenoid checked and see if it's not busted.

Are you getting any CEL's? . Do you mean vtec is smooth you cant hear it or its not actually engaging?

Terrano08

a)wats a cel? b) i dont know.. it could be engaging but i cant really feel it... i swear a month ago my vtec used to blow out at 5 and you could deffinatlly hear and feel the diffrence.

check engine light.
shit now that u mentioned it.. about two weeks ago i pulled off my radiator hose to replace it and i didnt do a very good job coz coolant and water poured out everywhere and i think i was supposed to bleed the system or sumfing but yeah i thought it would be all good if i just topped up with some coolant and water. and since then my engine light has been on.. so what steps do i take from here?? could that be harmfull or the reason for lack of vtec ??

In the mornings when i usually go to work, i start up my car for about 10-15 minutes making sure my oil is about on 7-8 bars on the thermostat. Its fine for the rest of the day.

not necessary to start your car up for that long.
just start it up for 2 minutes and drive under light throttle until the car completely warms up

i got my brother to do a whole check up and service on the car.. and OMG he found sooooooooo many things wrong with it.. broken mounts all rounds, engine and gearbox, vtec solenoid not pluged in or whatever, leaking oil, vaccum problems, fixed it in a day and now it runs like the animal it once was

i sprayed and replaced my rocker cover and some of my hoses and i must have disconnected it or i dont know.. but yeah its all good now... sammi i also put in some 11.5 to 1 comp forged pistons and wace said i might give you a good run.. and i still gotta get it tuned so we gotta race soon

hey just checking... since it was mentioned on here i though i might ask on here.. is it only safe to thrash ur car once the temp is on optimum temp or what if it has just started warming up and the needle has moved a notch or two?? is it still bad for ur engine then ??

hisoka

yep. any earlier and it causes unessecary wear

The engine will perform best at its optimum temp. So warm it up first.

Start it, idle for 1-2 mins. Drive it lightly for 5 min, and it will be at a safe temp.

what kind of wear are we talking ??

well just imagine running your engine with no oil pretty much.

same thing occurs on a cold start the oil is thicker. much harder to pump.

metal is contacting with metal with no lubrication while the engine starts up as oil has to go the places it should be going to , then get the the correct temprature and correct pressure aswell

when you start engine for a couple of seconds while engine is on, the places that should have oil do not have it as it needs to be pumped there, once it is there, it still needs to get to optimum temp to work correctly.

so driving your car off fast as soon as u start it is pretty much like draining ure car oil and taking it for a spin down the street.

i beleive its something like 80 percent of all engine life wear occurs from cold start ups.

i dont know alot about it, just learnt at tafe about earthworks machinery and it would be almost the same for cars.
