ive got a vtir teg with a b20 b18 conversion. all stock including stock ecu... it never idles at a regular rpm. it bounces from about 800 - 1800. just bouncing and bouncing as if im tapping the accelerator. anyone ever experienced this or know what the problem is.. my pops and brother do performance engines and did the conversion for me and they cant find anything mechanically wrong with it. im thinking its the ecu???

loll is this chris bro?.. you need to tune your ecu for a b20 vtec...

ok 1.. stock ecu is not good..

get crome ecu with basemap so it can run safely but a tune is needed to stop that bouncing..

or it could a vaccum leak

Hmm trust me chris your car is running very poory to what it should be running. I dunoo if the person that built your car, has tuned the ecu with a basemap cause i remember the rev limit was set at 7,500rpm, your vtec was on aswell. So it cant be a stock ecu cause no stock ecu has a rev limit of 7.5k. So best thing would go get it checked out by a mechanic that has knowledge of tuning ecu etc. Charlie at GP

any money the ecu doesnt have a basemap... -.- GET IT CHECKED!!! ASAP ebfore you fuk your motor

man its confirmed that its a stock vtir ecu and it revs out to about 7300.. man getting a new ecu and tuning it well means that i need to work on my internals coz i know for a fact from prior discussions that my stock rodds arent going to be able to take the higher revs. and im in no financial state to work on my internals

I would say first check on the vacuum leaks, then iavc valve. it happened to me before and it end up the iavc valve that stuff up. paid for a new iavc valve with my leg

B20's are notorious for idle problems, its the tune. Mine was doing it before the tune, idling like crazy.. Chris B20 rods are fine for more than 7,500... its your rod bolts that will give out on you. And VTiR's redline at 8,200rpm not 7,300.. so for sure someone has changed the rev limit..

It should idle fine on a stock ECU. Check for vaccum leak

B20's are notorious for idle problems,

no they are not. maybe un-tuned ones are, but in general, B20VTEC's idle fine...

OP - ask your pops or brother to check your TPS is set correctly...

i suspect its a vaccum leak...

Good point!
