View Full Version : Broken A/C woes, fuel economy YAY!

well its getting hot now so Im going to have to get the A/c fixed!
ive been told that when the compressor siezed and died it most probably 'threw' aluminum thru the pipes and its recommended to also change the drier, tx valve and inside heat exchanger bit coming to a cost of $2.5-3k

can anyone offer experience of this compressor seizing and repairs?

when i started the car in april it went thud just as it was starting, so I dont see how it could put all this shrapnel so far into the system.

on the upside fuel economy has improved without the A/c drain, I got 815klm just as the low fuel light came on! shell 98 on highway cruise control on. and it seems that the best economy is at 95kmph or at 115kmph, and thats with the sunroof and rear pass window open for cooling!

Cheers
Chris

My compressor seized and shattered. Needed a new (used) one. Costed me $450 from hondwreck and 550ish for installation, regas, etc etc. So total was JUSt under a grand. But yes, i noticed my fuel was very good during ahaha. down to 7.xxL/100KM.

WARNING! do NOT try to use ur A/C at all. Mine made a weird sound. So i never tried it, but to get to the fan, i had to press the AC button 2 times. .... instantly BOOOOOOM! all this shit came through the vents.

edit: hooyn. has beaten me. ahah

Is there an aftermarket alternative to the OEM compressor available? And on that matter is there an aftermarket alternative for the Alternator and Starter Motor for the CL9? You would think that being such a popular car with allot of vehicles coming out of Warranty, there would be something on the Market?

I remember seeing compressors from the US. But shipping was huge. They were however new. I just ended up paying more for a local, but used compressor. As for the alternator and SM, i have no idea.

I gave them a call and they have them in stock for only $420!

If it worked ok for you then i might have to get one from them!
