take off the carpet and obviously everything on it (seats etc)
get some dry ice, perhaps around 1kg is enough, place it all over the floor and leave it for around 5 minutes

after that get a mallet and a chisel and start hammering away.

Did this last weekend on a EK and EG, the tar in the EK was far harder/thicker than the EG. 4kg is enough to do one car.

Strip the car seats/carpet/consoles, let dry ice sit on tar for a good 6-8 mins then smack it with a rubber mallet. This will crack the tar and will be easy to pull away with your hands. To remove the left of goo from the tar we used kerosene and a strong plastic brush (Tire Brush) after a bit of elbow grease it will all come off and look good.

This is not quite a DIY but it might help (I know it is a DC2 but should give you some guidance.

To do full EK you will need roughly 10kg of dry ice in pellet form, in total you'll be looking at 15-20kg in weight reduction. My advice is split the car up in 2, do the rear half first - upto where the rear seats stop then the front half, otherwise all youre ice will melt and you wont have time to relocate it to other needed spots, you will be left chizleing it off.

Side note : transmission tunnel is not sound deading but more of a 'stick-on' material, the ice wont get this off, most effective method for this is heat gun and a paint scraper. Just take youre time. Set a good couple of hours aside to do whole car better yet get some mates to help

There's sound deadening over the wheel arches and below the rear seat. It's under the car, sprayed on,there's a 15kg mat of it in the firewall (between you and the engine) and it is on the inside of the wheel arches too!
