Hey guys,

was just wondering if a full carbon fiber bonnet is a defect? I heard that they arents approved for australian roads or something.

Please, any help you can give me will be of great help.

Thanks

ive read:
1.Yes becos it has no adr approval. must be adr approved to be on roads.
2.No, as long as its ribbed inside, like the standard bonnet.
3.No, as long as u have engineers cert and everything to enforce that it is safe, like bonnet pins?
4.Yes, becos its simply dangerous and will crack and chop someone becos of its weave structure and material it's made out of.

so...... :confused::confused::confused:

from my knowledge it is, because of they way they shatter in a crash?

I heard because it doesn't crumble, what could happen is the bonnet could cut through someones car or even get pushed back and chop your head off if car is going fast enough.. tho this is only what i heard.. in the end, it cant be ADR approved which makes it a defect..

wat r u buying a c/f bonnet for?? for weight reduction or just for looks??? if its purely for weight reduction, why dont u just get it and have it resprayed to the same colour of ur car so cops dont bother u abt it

but up 2 u

not trying to argue here, but if u drive responsibly and safely then ur chances of getting into any kind of accident are very slim if any...but how u drive is up to u:)

As I understand it the bonnet must have oem ribs and have flat/smooth bonnet pins.

What happens if someone hits you head-on? You drive responsibly but you still get your head cut off, so your argument is invalid.

carbon fibre is castagenic or however u spell it meaning it can give u cancer n wat if it was on fire for some reason from an accident or watever n u take in those fumes unintentionally n later on d track u get treated for cancer not cool i work with this stuff n we wear full sperm suits n respirators in a fully enclosed room n yea agreed doesnt crumble it will hurt some1 in an accident if it was a big 1 that is.
sorry if i am a bit too informative jst thought id share some of my knowledge

lol, first time i've heard of that. its true that inhalation of its dust can cause respirotory problems, like fibre glass. other than that, i dont believe its carcinogenic.

above is a link of Material Safety Data Sheet on carbon fibre. page 2 provides Carcinogenic Information
