The cost of sponsoring via world vision is $43 per month, and bday cards, xmas, etc is $6 per occasion.

So how does it work...you just make a lump sump payment for a year or can you (as said above) get donations till you make up enough for the full year and then make the payment then? I actually sponsor a child and pay a fixed amount each month.

yeh, i guess the best way would be to collect the money first

then u can sign up another child on behalf of us wyn, and have direct debit set up if they dont want a lump sum

then just keep a dedicated thread somewhere keeping us up to date with all thats happening

First thing to do though is gauge interest by say making a POLL. Are you up to making a poll in say the Lounge ? I can take over after that.

Options might be say how much people want to donate.

Ie

1. No I'm not interested
2. Up to $5
3. $5 to $10
4. $10-$15
5. $15-$20

etc

I might also look at other organisation such as ChildFund (http://www.childfund.org.au/) so if you make the POLL don't make it specific to World Vision or ChildFund

You can pay per month or do a lump sum per annum. I would suggest Pay per month, because we may not generate $516 in one instance for immediate payment. Payment is usually via credit card.

Updates from the child usually come once every six months, update on their schooling, they draw a pic, and a photo of themselves.

its very feasable Waz, very feasable, even for a broke ass spammer like me its a good and affordable cause which I will happily take part in.

I'm not saying it won't work/happen but I'm just airing out my doubts.
