Rear trailing arm bushes - RD1 CRV Sport

Dealer reckons the rear trailing arm bushes on our CRV are split/fractured and need to be replaced. Gonna cost me $500.....fkn ouch :(

I'm slightly n00b when it comes to certain mechanical stuff, can anyone tell me what these are and what they do exactly?

get quotes from other places... i got quoted 320 to do mine a few days ago... you need to press them in so your prob gonna have to get a shop to do it.

what i did was found a set of trailing arms with new looking bushings at the wreckers and just replaced the whole arm

Hmm, this is exactly what I was just told for our '01 CRV today. $500. Which workshop was this??
