I have been hearing a lot on JJJ about digital radio coming out soon. do our normal head units support it or do we all have to go out and buy new ones to suit?

I'm still waiting for the development so I can sell digital ready head units. If you find one please let me know!
yes new unit is required, upgrades may become available for pioneer/alpine etc. but will be costly. as they will have to be made exclusively for the Australian market...
however this will be a slower roll out compared to digital tv, it has taken digital tv 6 years+ to get where it is. so maybe in your next car mike ;)

yep ok cool.
But then how is anyone listening to these digital channels if there isn't even the tech to listen to them...???

heaps of "digital" clock radio's available, also some portable ones.
nothing in the home theater market supports it yet.
so will take awhile.

To get the story straight. No head unit is available with a built in digital receiver. You have to get an add on from a stereo shop.
