Hi everyone, just want to know...

If there is a guy selling some car parts (catback, coilover...) from other country like japan... And the price is a couple hundred cheaper than here, for example: Mugen, spoon catback $600, where I think they cost around 1000 in here; or tein coilover $600, header, air box, air pipe, ......
The only disadvantage is need to wait for a few weeks to a month for the parts, is this situation.

Would you buy that parts??

tein coilover $600?
good luck,

i think if the saving is enough and your in no rush, a dollar in your own pocket is better than anywhere elses right?

shipping large items will cost you arm and leg

some items are to big to be shipped too

so you have to work out landed price not listed

you will be surprised what the final price will be

yep tehre is a guy who imports these parts, and they seem quite cheap. but once you add in the cost of shipping which is quite expensive, you are pretty much paying just under what some of the traders are selling it here for

dun forget the tax as well

Do you know how much tax do I need to pay? And is that only apply for large number of parts, or even single parts??

anything over 1000 dollars you need to pay ten percent of the claimed value.

Plenty of senders simply declare a lower value, Id only be worried about the condition of the parts, coilover shipping will set you back like $150ish if I can remember and would take a while by ship. If he is a broker then you gotta ad in the broker fee, so those 600 dollar coilovers would end up costing you nearly anywhere between 200-400 extra to get them landed here.

I was planning to get some parts from Hong Kong and ship here for my EK, but after I've search those forum and website in HK, the used parts there are pretty cheap, like tein coilover AU$450, Mugen header AU$350, Mugen/spoon catback AU$400 and EK9 stock suspension AU$200...
So I am thinking now if I can get some of them ship here, benefit our ozhonda member and earn a little bit for myself as well...
Now just planning all the stuff and quoting the price, will try 1 to 2 parts first and see how it goes....

Anyone can help me with this??

if you buy an item that cost $2000.00 and you put the value as $100.00

if the item is damaged or lost, you will be compensated for $100 according to value you declared. not that it happen very often BUT it happens.

and if customs knows what the real value is they wont release the item to you pay the correct tax on it

so better to not put down stupid prices

Like he said, the items are not worth much, so he wouldnt be paying any tax on them either way.

If you really can find something cheap, can't see the reason why not buy it if just wait for few weeks. Sometime interstate even need to wait for a week...

Ive had various things shipped and never had to pay tax?
They've always been put down as a gift tho and have always had insurance to the correct amount. My coils were over a grand.

another way to get away from tax is to declare it as a gift. =D

should be careful about stuff from Hong Kong, the reason why it is so cheap is because the items are usually fake, make sure you try and find reviews about the company and their products, i myself would not get anything from Hong Kong even if they say they are genuine parts, there may be some people who are genuine, but i wouldnt like to take the risk
