hey guys,

this is a question that i'm asking on behalf of a mate. He doesn't own a honda, but i figure i'll post here anyways..

please move the thread if it's in the wrong place.

My mate owns a kia rio.. he rarely drives the thing. perhaps once a week, only on wknds..

We were talking about servicing, etc the other day, and i suggested that he should consider using the magnatec oil. Reason being that he rarely drives (he's got 23,000kms on the clock and it's a 4 yr old car), and that the magnetic properties should help. He's a bit of a noob when it comes to cars, and never lets the thing warm up before he shoots off to wherever he needs to go.

Anyways, he rang up midas to book in a service the other day, and he asked about the magnatec oil. Midas says they don't use it, but if he wanted to bring in he own stuff, then go ahead. Before he got off the phone, the midas guy mentioned that they've had problems using castrol oils before. my mate being the noob that he is, didn't ask what sort of probs..

Have you guys had any probs??

edit: change where i mention caltex to castrol.. oops
