Hey gang,

This might be covered somewhere but ill just share a recent mod i performed (total cost was $2.80 2 bolts + pack of washers)

Standing behind the car the other day and also while driving behind ither Euro's, iv noticed that the exhaust splitter and exhaust pipes look cheap (rough, rusted). Most noticable on Euros without a kit.

I was thinking of painting the pipes black but when i looked under the car, i realised that there is a standard diffuser or under body tray.

Light Bulb goes BLING!!

- Proceeded to remove the tray (give it a good clean while its out)
- swap the bolts for much longer bolts,
- placed a whole heap of washers between the tray and the mounting point
-tightened back up.

Now the tray sits roughly 25mm lower than it previuosly did and when looking from behind, it covers the ugly exhause pipes - also looks bit more like a diffuser.

Still heaps of clearance off the ground (car is stock height). Should look more distinctive once the car is lowered.

Ill get pics up soon if someone wants em..

Cheers
Mikk

Ok, pics of the mod below..

It doesnt look like a big difference, but before and after shows the result.

Either way, bout 10 mins and bout $5 -$6 to do..

If you get bored and like to tinkle on your car and dont want to spend alot, try it..

If you lowered the part of the diffuser at the front side, then air will catch when you are moving forward, causing more turbulence.

AHA... was waiting for someone to mention that..
Already thought of that. It is actually in line with the exhaust pipes so most of the air will travel over the exhaust spliter and carry on. Im sure increase in turbulance will be mininal with such a slight change.

Iv also added some foam to reduce air getting in between the tray and the chassis..

See pic below..

You can also see in the next pic, that the chassis cross brace on the rear suspension also acts as a deflector before the the air gets to the exhaust splitter and THEN to the underbody tray.

I have driven behind plenty of Euro's and I have never been able to see the exhaust split.. Unless perhaps your in a go-kart !!!

So yea I don't think its that crash hot... But it does look allot neater I suppose.

on the contrary, i always notice those ugly exhaust pipes from the split on euros ahead of me (and this is driving in my own euro). looks so bad.

since im gonna be polishing my mufflers this weekend, i think i might give this mod a shot for funsies. seems easy enough lol
