Had a bit of free time and 90mm stormwater pipe lying around so made a DIY ram air CAI with cold air coming from the left foglight. The piping feeds into the stock airbox. I have a poverty pack 08 Accord 2.4 with no foglights.

90mm stormwater pipe, 45 degree joiners and reused the stock rubber connector hose.\ which fits the 90mm pipe perfectly!

Looks stealth. I just painted the tip and the insides black. If I can be arsed next time I migt make a proper foglight grille which still allows airflow

Performance:
Throttle response has improved but performance gain is probably minimal. Haven't done any timed runs so can't really say

Sound:
definitely more meaty sounding especially at WOT but not as loud as just the airbox with resonator removed.

Water:
a definite concern. Have driven it in a moderate shower for 10 mins and the inside of the pipe does get wet but the inside of the stock airbox is dry. Driving through a big puddle is a no-no. I drilled a small hole at the low point of the pipe for any water to escape just in case.

A safer way is to do the same piping but remove the rubber connector hose.

This piping can also be used if you run a pod filter

If anyone is keen I can write up a proper DIY

update:
remade the intake with only 2x 45 degree bends instead, as ver.1.0 was scrubbing against the wheel when turning. Now no probs.

Do you have a pic of the update ver.1.1 buddy?

This is a great DIY, I wonder if the CU@ guys can do this aswell?

sorry no pic but if you look at my first pic with 6 pvc pieces, I replaced the last 2 on the right with a straight length.

Nice DIY mate :) not sure about potential heat soak, but great job

Good D.I.Y.! if you put thin stockings on the end of it, it could minimise the water or any rocks and such from going in!

wtf with heatsoak? The pipe is outside the engine bay with a direct feed of cold outside air. You can't go anymore non-heatsoak than that:confused::confused::confused:

Sorry mate my bad (thought stormwater pipe would still heat up with engine bay temp). One thing I really like tho about your intake is the trumpet shape on the end - tests have proven you get better airflow with this type of design rather then a straight cut pipe. Well done :)
