I'mm thinking of selling my EP3 and buying an 05, 06 Integra Type S. I'm yet to test drive one, but if any member can comment on the following it would be appreciated,

- How does it compare to the EP3 in terms of comfort. I'm hoping the Type S is a bit more comfortable as a daily driver
- Handling?
- Overall package. I'd say the EP3 is marginally quicker but the Integra offers a better overall package. Your thoughts??

Thanks

ep3 has more room, better suspension, and is faster
why would you want the type s?

maybe hes gone soft! lol jks, one of my friends has a type s, comfy and awesome to drive, just not as raw compared to the ep3 but for daily id pik the type s anyday, the ep3 is just annoying sometimes....

if it's me and don't want to reduce performance to gain more comfort, i'd probably get at 3MPS or Golf GTI.

you get more performance and comfort than a Type S.

It is comfortable, it has leather seats first of all. Suspension is soft but you can still do your spirited driving with ease. Over the bumps at the carparks, and potholes on the road, you don't feel it but it does get bouncy.
- Handling?
It's a DC5 what more could you want from handling? turn the steering wheel whereever you want it it goes there. Very responsive sticks to the ground and handles like its on rails until you push it hard enough the tyres give out (stock)
- Overall package. I'd say the EP3 is marginally quicker but the Integra offers a better overall package. Your thoughts??
My thoughts? i wanted the best package, lux/power/handling/looks and this is where the S excels. the Ep3R is purely a race car, sure it might be faster because its a type R you don't buy it for comfort.

Hope that helps, pm me if u want to know more.

ep3r vs dc5s, moar info guys! might persuade me to get either one of those ;)

then again, for the same price, youre getting an 02ish ep3 vs a 06ish dc5s

ill go type s cos its newer, but dont like the seats the type s has... and gg to airbag sensor if you want to change it to bucket seat

guess both has its ups and downs

Before I bought my ep3 i test drove a 2005 type S as well!

- How does it compare to the EP3 in terms of comfort. I'm hoping the Type S is a bit more comfortable as a daily driver
It is definitely more comfortable to drive, softer suspension, leather seats and just a smoother ride. The ep3 however does feel as if it does have more cabin space and there is quite a bit of room in the backseats and its pretty comfortable for four people.

- Handling?
Handling is pretty good, not much body roll at all and very direct turn-in. Maybe its lacking just a bit of steering feel but apart from that it is very good. Well balanced

- Overall package. I'd say the EP3 is marginally quicker but the Integra offers a better overall package. Your thoughts??
I would say the Ep3 is also quicker then the Integra but at the end of the day its what you are looking for in a car. As a daily car the integra would definitely be more comfortable and you can still have fun with it. The ep3 is still quite good as a daily driver as you should know but you can also take it to the track and give it a thrashing!!

This is my thoughts
I borrowed my menchanics dc5s over night a year ago problem was it was modded so I cant really compare to stock.
What I like about the dc5s
- cabin still reflects a sportier feel like the R
- I'm a sucker for the sun roof
- boot space very similar to EP3
- standard headunit

What I don't like
- Not a big fan on the leather seats if you park your car in the sun you will feel it when you sit in it
- Power but I guess you can live with it untill you start modding it like exhaust, intake etc
- Engine you cant compare dc5s engine to a ep3 hands down to the ep3.
- Blind spot.

That's all the moment which I can think of ill post up tomorrow.

The Type S doesn't have more power than the EP3R. It's abit less.

It really comes down to if you really like a hatch or a coupe more.

EP3 looks boring like a regular civic.

Styling is subjective, people have different opinions on looks so no need to point that out mate

There's only one thing i dont like about the dc5..... i find myself with no confidence reversing in it..... i always have to open the door n poke my head out n look behind.

i personaly loved the late EP3 facelifted model
its rarer! better front and rear lights too if you havent noticed.

i choose ep3 rather than dc5 its more JDM YO!! lol
both car is great! stock wise...

although ep3 is harder to get some spares like body parts but! remember that some parts are also interchangable with dc5!

GL with the choice!

isnt the EP3 type R we have are UK tuned as well?, therefore it would only be 200hp and the Type-S is 208hp??

EP3 doesnt look like a pregnant Jazz, it looks like a smaller mini van

Yes the EP3 originally is from the UK but the version that most of us here in AUS purchased was the JDM version which came with the k20a :)

have u had a lookin into a second hand FN2??
yes it may be a bit slower than the EP3, but it has more than enough power and with honda's VSA system its easy to drive as a daily.
It's also newer and has all the luxeries (auto light & wipers, dual climate, slick interior), and airbags everywhere.
perfect if u like hatches and want it for a daily.

Wow i'm glad i searched before i posted.

I'm actually in the same kind of position. But im actually deciding either to buy an EP3R or DC5R.

Can anyone comment on the insurance costs / maintenance that would be involved with either? I'm assuming because the EP3R is an import, insurance / spare parts would be way more expensive then a DC5-R/S ?

Excellent posts guys, i suppose they've summed up the cars well.
