The stock rim that comes with a DA9 is 14x5.5
I am just wondering,

What is the maximum rim width can I fit in my car legally?
can I fit a rim with width of 7 into the car without being defected?

Thanks

From the top of my head you're allowed 2 inches in diameter and 1 inch in width over the maximum size from the factory for the model.

You can be defected for anything which isn't stock and hasn't been engineered (and anecdotal evidence suggests that even this isn't a cure). Unless you have some stupid looking stretched tyres you'll probably be fine. With the appropriate offset it is far more obvious to a police officer that you are over-diameter than over-wide.

my CRX has the same wheel setup stock as the DA9 (14x5.5) i pretty sure, and im running the sportmax 501 15x6.5 wheels, and i was pulled over a few time for defect checks and they found nothing to complain about. the tyres i got are 195x55r15's and they are about the only size wheel you can get to match standard sizing without being defected. unfortunatly there is few tyre companies that i know of that do that size tyre and mine cost me $170 each from a mate at Beaurepairs. they are bridgstone Advance im sure. and for the record, awesome tyres, love them. but i with wheel width i think to fit any bigger than the 6.5 width you need camber kits installed otherwise you loos turnability, the wheels will rub inside the wheelarch.
hope that helps a little
