hey guys, the last couple of days ive been having problems with my car starting. ill turn the key, but it just wont start. everything works fine, headdeck turns on, reverse lights come on if in reverse, etc. but it just doesnt seem to start up. it sometimes takes me to take key in and out about 10 times before it finally starts. it seems worse when the car hasnt run for a while aswell. battery is fine

any ideas??

i also got my fanbelts replaced a week or so ago, but i dont think that has anything to do with it.

main fuel relay

It can't be the fuel relay as basically as he tried to start the car, he's not getting anything as he turns the keys yet everything still lights up.
If nothing happens when he turns his key, its his starter motor 100% sure.

try this - get a metal hammer and hit the starter motor softly. after this start your car and if it starts off one go then its your starter motor.

Yep starter motor bro ! It just makes no noise at all when its dead. Its under/back of your engine. On the firewall side.

its bolted on the side of your gearbox

as duckey said, give it a bag with a hammer or a long pole, depending on where it is... after a few hits it should get working, but in any case, it sounds as though it has carcked it... get a second hand or refurbished unit from a sparky

breeza: When ya main fuel relay starts to go,what are the signs?

lithium: intermittent starting problem on hot days. the car will crank but the engine will not start as the fuel pump is not energised.

do you have that symptoms luke?

when you turn ignition to 1, you should be able to hear your fuel pump primes.

my car had problem starting, i could hear the pump struggles in pressurizing fuel.
then i checked my fuel gauge, it reads E.

i'm confused mate. just to check, when you turn the key and your car doesn't start: does the engine still crank, or do you hear nothing at all?

if the engine cranks, but refuses to start, it could be your main relay. if the engine doesn't crank at all, it suggests it's your starter motor.

ok - it can't be your main relay then. most likely the starter motor :)

most likely its the relay for the fuel

bringing up my old topic.

where aboutsa is my fuel relay??

cos me and dad have been spraying rp7 on all the connections and shit we can see and its been starting up first go most the time.

and now it wont go at all. even after trying to crank it over about 60 times

Lukey
06-03-2010, 01:44 PM
started her up after drenching all the connections and shit i could see in the engine bay with rp7.

after its been running for a while and turn it off, takes a few goes to get back into life.

so as lan first pointed out and i ignored, im guessing its a connection/relay somewhere.

could it be dried up or a loose wire perhaps?
