hi guys, recently bought a 1.3lt Jazz. it's about 2000km on clock. The fuel consumption is pretty bad so far. Avg 380-400 km then the fuel light is on.
I think it's not normal rite? should i take it back to dealer for checking ?

put a few more k's on it first, and then see what the fuel consumption is like. it's normal for a new engine to use more fuel. as you put more distance on it it will loosen up and fuel consumption should improve.

use BP ultimate or Shell V-power will solve the issue.

Normal. I have an MY07 with 30k on it and everyday fuel consumption has only started to match Honda's claimed figures in the last 10,000 kays.

No it won't. He should be getting 500km + once it's run in. Doing as you suggest may reduce consumption a little, but it won't save any money.

Unless you are driving the car very hard this is NOT normal. You should be getting another 100km before the light comes on.

You may experience slightly higher fuel consumption when the car is new but not 20% more. A difference of 5% more at absolute most could be expected. I would be advising your Honda dealer of your issue so that they have a record of it. Also keep accurate records of your fuel usage to present to Honda to get this problem sorted. Calculate your consumption yourself at each fill by recording the litres purchased per kilometres driven on each tankfull. The l/100 km reading on the dash is not always accurate.

Despite what many will say, using higher octane fuel will not significantly improve fuel consumption. However, using E10 will worsen your fuel consumption. The best fuel to use to achieve the best cost per kilometre is regular unleaded.

Thx for the reply everyone. Honestly, i 'm shock to hv this bad fuel consumption. I would expect the car can go over 500KM per tank. I will raise the issue to Honda when service. BUT STILL LONG WAY TO GO !!!! (10,000km is the first pay service)

has it been back to have the running in oil removed and real oil put in?

my jazz had shit economy for 2 years ( shes 7 now! ) and i changed back to honda FEO oil a few months back....

funnily enough.... back to 5.5L per 100 on highway and 6.1 around town!

Mate 380ks on a tank is an issue. It's using way too much fuel. I have a 2004 VTIs Jazz, 1.5 litre with 147,000 kms on it. I just home, 610kms on a tank and still the fuel light isn't on (expect it to come on very soon though). This is mainly highway driving and I drive pretty sedately. Close to or over 600kms on a tank is the norm for my car (but remember, 80% of this is highway use)

If it is brand spanking new, then i would let it run in for the first 1000km and take it easy behind the wheel..

my car is about 2k on clock atm, so i havent changed any engine oil yet. I should change the oil when 10k service rite?

62rocket---> my car is 80% city use. Probably that's the problem !

What fuel are you using?
Mine has 40,000kms, get around 6l/100ks (mainly city driving), so ~650kms per tank
I use 98RON

In MY 2003 JAZZ 1.5 auto, I always managed to get 550klms per tank with Premium, Now with my MY09 Jazz 1.5 auto, I am only getting 438klms with plain unleaded.

However I was aware that this model jazz would not be as good on fuel as the last jazz. However honda did state the 1.3lt should be a lot better on fuel.

when i got my 02 model brand new, honda changed the RUN IN oil at 1000 kms, and it was free.

im thinking they need to do this on yours too!

as for the difference between city and highway, if i drive easy i reckon id get 650kms per L on the highway and 550 around town.

I don't know if it's all honda dealers are the same now, but at the 1,000klms service they don't do anything except check over the vehicle. The first oil change is at 10,000klms.

Hi all, I just got 672 kms on a tank (yellow light was on for the last 30 kms or so). Fuelled up, 5.54 litres to the 100km (80% highway driving). 5.54 is about the best I have ever got out of my Jazz 1.5 litre.

In my '06 1.3L lowest I got was 3.4L/100kms on a highway trip. Take that Priuses

My jazz runs quite rich, only around 500km a tank, but thats the price for performance, full exhaust and intake :(

I think its safe to conclude that the GD jazz has much better fuel economy than the GE Jazz.

the 1000km is technically not a service. It is a post delivery check. Its just to ensure that all the parts are fitted correctly and the vehicle is operating the way it should and for you to have an opportunity to speak to Honda if there are any queries about the car and its fuctions/features

that's correct however that wasn't the case until a couple of years ago.

Just quizzed my local dealer about fuel consumption. '07 GD3 VTi 1.5L 5spd Manual Jazz (32xxx km). The service guy reckoned anything between 6.0L and 7.0L per 100km for city driving is normal. All depends how you drive it, tyre pressure, air con on/off etc.

We drove up the coast last weekend and had 2x suitcases, 2x adults and air con going strong. The car sat on 5.9L all trip.

98RON on a jazz is overkill. waste of money....

unless ur using it for the "claimed cleaning benefits" etc of the fuel...but still....

Call it the placebo effect or w/e, but i do notice better consumption and a bit more power with the 98RON. And its barely $5 a week extra. Worth it to me

Agreed. Tried it for a while, and get best results ( value ) with E10 ( was getting engine pinging on regular unleaded ).

380-400kms is pretty normal. The people getting 500+ kms probably have the previous Jazz model with the CVT transmission. My 1.3 Jazz (auto) bought in 2009 has 21,000kms now and I get about 400kms before the light goes on. I use regular unleaded and do 90% city driving.

that's correct the previous model jazz's were better on fuel, my 2003 jazz was getting about 550 & my 2009 jazz is doing only about 400.

Got the same problem here
GE jazz only getting around 400 - 450 km's for a full tank

i actually checked my klms today & the last time I added petrol I used caltex vortex 98 for the first time since having the car & I have done 430 with maybe 20 to go till empty. that's with air con going also.

So I am getting much more klms with premium fuel. However you have to weigh up the extra costs between the 2 fuel prices.

also I must add with my 2003 jazz I used nothing other than premium & I would have continued the same only I read on here that the engine was only tuned for unleaded.

Jazz 2009 VTI-S is not that good when it comes to fuel consumption i have 8.3/100km which is annoying for city driving :(
