Hi Guys,

Just after some advice for an aircon problem I have.

I get no cold AC whatsoever, it's like only the fan is running, no AC. The compressor doesn't kick in (can't see the revs drop) but I can hear additional fans in the engine bay running.

I took it to a (backyard) mechanic and he bypassed something near the passenger glove box - fuses were OK BTW. Now when the AC is turned on, the revs drop (sounds like a heavy drop, approx 300rpm) and you can hear a *psssht* noise from the compressor, but it stops quickly, then does it again. All this time, there is still no cold air. The mechanic says the compressor has seized and needs replacing/reconditioning.

Has anyone else had the same problem? I've done a search but other threads show problems with the AC compressor exploding. Does anyone know any places in Sydney that can recondition my compressor? I'm going to call a few places (Hannys) at lunch, and a point in the right direction would be ace!

Thanks,
Dac.

Called Hanny's but they don't fix AC systems. If I can source my own compressor they will fit it for $140.

The search is still on.

Hanny's don't do the servicing though (flush and regas). I'll have to source that seperately.

I found a place that sells new compressors for $550. Will need to check if it's OEM or aftermarket.

You'll also have to make sure its the same one. The guy told me that there are different compressors for the same car. When I got mine, i confirmed with him before buying, but he still needed to rebuild it using some parts of the old compressor

Thanks, will do.

I called a place recommended by Hannys but he said not many people recondition the compressors and gave a ballpark figure of $1600 for a new compressor + fitting.

Do you have the Genuine Honda numbers off the Compressor? I would assume the compressor is a Denso unit?
