A lot of people have been asking for specs of my car since i posted the video of it in the 1/4 mile runs so heres a quick run down on it.

The car is a jap spec dc2 integra that i bought in new zealand years ago and slowly built it up to what it is now, i privately imported it to australia about 6 months ago and it has been driven in queensland since then.

all work on the car was done by myself, my brother, and friends.the current setup is as follows.

ENGINE

Darton MID sleeved B18C1 block
Arias 84mm 9.2/1 pistons
Eagle rods
Golden eagle headstuds
Supertech valvesprings and retainers (honda valves)
Standard b18c1 head and inlet manifold (still running dual butterfly setup)
B16B cams (JG camgears)
Custom steampipe exhaust manifold
Precision SC61 turbo
Tial 38mm wastegate (plumbed back in to exhaust)
3 inch exhaust of turbo increasing to 3.5 after wastegate plumb back
Precision 880cc injectors
Walbro 255lph intank fuel pump (stock lines)
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
Link G4 plug in ECU
Direct spark with 4 LS2 coils

DRIVETRAIN

Exedy twin plate clutch
Standard s80 gearbox with standard honda viscous LSD
Standard axles and cvs

Suspension

D2 adjustable coilovers
Custom camber kits
All suspension bushes are factory rubber bushes and it runs no traction bars.

Wheels / tires

V2 Competition 13x8 rims
25x8.7/13 M&H tires

This setup makes 340kw@wheels on 20psi on BP 98 and 425kw@wheels on 25psi and c16 fuel. These figures were in new zealand and it has never been on a dyno in australia

to date the best times are 10.94@129mph on pump gas, and 10.67@136mph on c16, it has run 139.2mph but i can't run over 140mph without a parachute so the 10.67 pass was on 22psi.

here's the link to the 10.67 video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLfxpxvrG0Q

unfortunately i cant host pictures but i'm more than happy to email a couple to somebody if they want to host them.

any other questions just ask.

i take the passengers seat out to mount the fire extinguisher at the track, but other than that it has full interior, plus roll cage which has added to the weight. the car weighed 1215kg on the 10.67 pass.

yea, they're completly maxed out at 25psi or i would've gone higher on the dyno. when i need more power i'll put an inline pump in with some id 1000s and turn the fuel pressure up, should be good for a bit more power.

is that the full write up that was done about 6 years ago? i'd been keen to see that too, see how much it has changed. lol from memory that was the very first setup, tiny t3 turbo and very poorly designed exhaust manifold, made just over 300hp and run high 11s.

thanks for all the encouraging comments, and i am still trying to sort some current photos of it for on here, just been very busy.

Only think i wanna ask is how you run the direct coils?
I've been considering getting rid of my distributor and running direct coils but dunno how to. Would you share the knowledge?

Its all about the the car as a complete package. Not just the engine. I know I sound like a broken record but there are not enough Honda guys looking at their car as a package. Everything gets done as bits and pieces without thinking about how it ties in with everyting else they have.

Its obvious that in this case the "package" works nicely.

I know what your saying. But im saying im surprised that his total packed is mostly OEM form yet producing 10sec 1/4s. unreal stuff

EG
It amazes me that a standard head would let the engine make that sort of power and that standard drive shafts will take that sort of punishment with slicks and all the power !

the way that i've done it i still use the distributors pickups as the crank and cam angle sensors, but i made a new aluminium cap that replaces the plastic honda distributor cap and that mounts 4 ls2 coils with built in ignitors, then you need an ecu that has four ignition outputs as opposed to the honda single output. what ecu are you running?

if you're running a stock motor there isn't any real reason to go to direct coils as the block will limit your power well before the ignition system does.

it's been proven time and again that a stock b18c head can make ALOT more power than what i'm making, as for the drivetrain i honestly thought that i would've broken something since i put the twin plate clutch in as it is very brutal. the entire drivetrain has done over 200,000kms and at a guess close to 300 1/4 mile passes without a single breakage.
i am an engineer so i do have a bit of mechanical sympathy and i always preload the drivetrain prior to the burnout and launch.

you can get rid of the distributor completly but you then have to mount crank angle sensors and such anyway. AEM make a unit that replaces the distributor and works solely as a angle sensor.

it would pay to check but i'm pretty sure that the power fc only has a single ignition output, you need at least 2 outputs then you could do it as wasted spark.

i was making just over 300kw@wheels on the standard block and i wanted more power, i didn't feel comfortable pushing it anymore than that so i had a few spare blocks so we sleeved one, i kept the original motor as a spare until i got offered very good money for it so i sold it, it is now in a supercharged dc2 in nz still going strong.

the sleeved block (including the machining of the block and installation of the sleeves) was all done by my brother who is an engine reconditioner in nz!

i got them in from the states, think they were about $550us! sleeving a honda block isn't rocket science like everybody seems to make out, my block was the first one we done and we've since done another 2 b's and a k series block for other people. i've got 3 blocks that i brought over with me that i have to machine for sleeves when i get time at work. any competent machinst with a machining center can machine the block for sleeves, and it's just common sense as far as fitting the sleeves go. i can't understand why all the "experts" in australia say that you should only get a sleeved block done in the states.

is there anyway you can wreck the block if i send it somewhere and they dont know what they are doing?

yea there is many ways that they could stuff it if they didn't know what they're doing, darton couldn't make it any easier for people really, all the information is downloadable from there website right down to machining tolerances and full step by step instructions.

yea it is a big gamble, but it's only made worse over here because everybody makes out that it is so difficult that nobody will even attempt to do it.

you will probably struggle to run very low boost with only a 38mm gate, but there is so many determining factors, wastegate placement in relation to exhaust flow being the biggest, mine has a 9 psi spring in it, and it creeps to 13psi in the higher gears, but i run boost per gear anyway and i run higher than that in the gears that it creeps so it's never a issue.

what sort of manifold and turbo are you using and what sort of power are you chasing?

i wouldn't mind dipping into the 10's. i wonder if my gt2871r has it in it..

i'm thinking of getting some slightly bigger cams and stiffer valve springs and running about 24psi on pump fuel. i have low compression 8.6:1 so i should be safe on 98 octane.

it would be crazy to get there on such a small turbo and stock sleeves.

anyone think its doable? gotta knock off .4 sec from current setup. but i don't want to put in a cage or 4 point seat belt if i get there lol

maybe when im done, we can have a pump fuel race turboteg :P then i might have a chance :)

i just had an idea for you!

do you have boost by gear and rpm?

if you run boost upto your traction limit in all gears then at 4th gear(or the last gear you use) 6500rpm or whatever make boost 9psi then you should be able to foot to the floor the whole way and limit 140mph and run a bit quicker time! or just hit the brakes at the end hehe

may as well use all your power for the start of the run where it makes all the differnence to your time, and just limit your mph. do you spin second or third on those slicks at full power? i can put down all my power in second on street tires on the strip and all my power in first on slicks. but mine is 125mphish car.

we run boost per gear and have a speed limit set at 140mph, there is no way that the current slicks will hold full power in any of the first 3 gears, i'm running about 10psi in 1st, 15 in 2nd, and 20psi in third. this is all dependant on track conditions.

the night that i run the 10.6 the track could've taken a lot more power than i had dialled in to it but unfortunatly we run out of time for another run!

your car should be able to run tens but you'll definitely need to find some more power, in a full weight street fwd you need to be pushing very close to 130mph to have a chance of doing it. heaps of people have managed to run 10s on stock sleeves, myself included, i mean they run 9s in the states on stock sleeves and thats totally stock not posted like yours are!

good luck with your quest and i hope to see you out there again sometime.

cheers

my mate is going to custom make me a manifold out of steam pipe i want to try and fit it high mounted because i think it will give me the best angle for the wastgate placement.

hey there, haven't been on here for a while. i'm from christchurch, been watching your brothers progress, looks like it's fighting him all the way, hope he doesn't give up on it!

i got mine back to the track a few times just lately, we went down to sydney to run at the compak attack and got through to the top 4 in modified compact, then i fell asleep at the lights and got beaten on reaction time. we still managed a 10.70@138mph despite the 35 degree heat.

went out to a test and tune night on the friday of easter and run a pb of 10.65@138.5mph, should have been quicker but there was 2 massive oil downs so we only got 4 runs on a pretty slippery track.

loking forward to getting out there more often now that the temperature is dropping a bit!

hey bruice. i was talking to my mechanic the other day and i mentioned your car and he seemed to think that it had blown a motor, you know, whispers.... i know you said you were going to jambo. i'll be heading there tomorrow(sunday) is this a myth or did something happen to that monster? also im going through a turbo selection phase, if you could chime in on my gt3071r vs gt3076r thread that would be great if you have any insight :)

good luck with jambo! hopefully i see you tomorrow.

hey there, just whispers, i did finally break a gearbox and got towed back to pits at a test and tune about a month ago so that will be where the rumours started, broke the final drive, not to bad considering it had done 10 years of racing and 350+ passes at the track tho! lol

i am running at jambo, got a new pb yesterday (saturday) of 10.46@139mph, don't think there's much left in it now with out some major changes but we'll see!!

definitely come and find us in the pits on sunday!

cheers

well i came to jamboree today, and got there at about 12 or so. i was actally really dissapointed with what i saw. There was a serious lack of fast street cars(non trailer), and the lack of non stock hondas was bad.

i dont think i saw a turbo honda run, or an na honda that didnt dial in any quicker then 14.5 or so lol.

what happened to all the k swapped eg's and stuff?
did you run in the morning?

i did see your car parked in the back section, but didnt see you there when i was walking past. good to hear that you improved your time though!

maybe you should have entered yours then instead of complaining about the lack of turbo hondas out there?

personaly i think it was one of the best days of drag racing i've seen, with multiple world records broken in several classes.

and yea i run in the morning and went under my dial time so i was out!

i guess i dont think of my car as being good enough for competition.

i wasnt dissapointed by what i saw, alot of those cars are crazy. its incredible what they can do with ~3 litre engines.. low 6's from a 2jz...

just that i didnt see the cars that i know are out there!

i think power cruise will bring some of those cars out, so hopefully i can get my car there next weekend, and have a great time again.

hahaha, yea i'm sold on them, this is the second one i've had, the first one was a sc44 and i done 35000kms on that turbo making 300kws and sold it with the stock sleeve motor that i originally had in the car, this one has done nearly 20000kms and not a single issue, if i ever upgrade i'll be going with a precision billet turbo! best bang for buck turbo on the market in my opinion!

sure are, the setup is identical to the first page except i changed to a edelbrock inlet manifold, 2000cc injectors, deautschewerk DW301 fuel pump and wound the boost up another 5psi.

also fitted a parachute so i could turn off the speed limiter that i had set to keep it under 140mph.

All it cost me was the price of the coils which from memory i payed $200 for 8 of them of ebay. i made everything else for the conversion myself and a mate wired it and the link computer was capable of doing 4 ignition outputs. there wasn't really any noticable gains but i had to run very small plug gaps (with the factory ignition) to avoid spark blowout and this was when it was only on 25psi. the standard ignition would have struggled on 30psi.

Congratulations, fantastic to see someone doing so well with a self built car. Must give you immense satisfaction! Nines now beckon

Can anyone think of any other manufacturer's product that could turn those numbers with so much standard product still in the car??

And it is great to hear your success with the Darton sleeves, as I have had very sour experiences with two blocks done locally [WA] that were an embarrassment to the name of good engineering.........

Had one more run at willowbank for the year last night, the track was nothing like it was at jamboree but we still managed to beat our best mph by upping the rev limiter a fraction in 4th, track wasn't there for similar boost (to jamboree) in the lower gears.

managed a 10.30@148.1mph. same boost in 4th gear as jamboree but slightly less in 3rd and a lot less in 2nd and 1st.
it still hit the rev limiter before the line so i think 150mph is possible with another slight adjustment of the limiter!

will be back next year once it cools down a bit out there.

happy new year to everyone!!

Na just a 3 port solenoid, seems to control high boost fine. I have full throttle shift setup and have used it but it makes absolutely no difference to times so i generally still lift.

nice mate, what wg spring do you use and what is your max boost pressure that you can control that to useing the 3 port solenoid?

It runs a 9psi wastegate spring and it will hold boost steady at 30psi, the wastegate is only a 38mm tial and the position isn't ideal so it does creep to 12-13psi on spring pressure.

big events are magic for times! so much traction compound down and lots of rubber from slicks, instead of street tyres ripping it all up.. i got second gear to hook on full power on my crappy street tyres when i ran 124mph. i couldnt believe it lol, felt so good. i think it was the test and tune directly after a jambo. then some other time of year i had to lower boost by 5psi or more maybe to hook on the same tires..

what rpm are you running upto? obiously its not ideal to increase your rpm to suit your mph.. can you fit any larger tires under those guards? you must be a little nervous about your actualy rpm limit if your taking small steps up. good luck getting to 9.9x @ 15x!!! i hope it has it in it!

The rev limit on the 148.1mph run was set at 9400, but the soft limit is 200 revs under that. another 100 revs would let it do 150mph.

cant really fit any bigger tires under the standard gaurds without raising it which i dont really want to do, i'd rather get a 9 second pass than 150mph so i'll probably just wait for a big meeting when the track is well prepared again.

the 10.30 pass from wed night was .30 slower to half track than the 10.08 pass so if i can match the half track time from jamboree again we'll be very close to a 9.9x pass.

Cheers for putting that up mate, sorry i missed you in the pits and it was a shame that the weekend was so hot which really limited the cars performance. was really hoping to run a 9 that weekend and its frustrating knowing that the car can do it, it just needs the conditions to be right and the driver to be on his game. lol

on a slightly different note i am considering selling the car (and all its spares) shortly, i really want to run a 9 before i sell it but with the weather heating up that may not happen. i want to have a go at a turbocharged rear wheel drive honda, and unfortunately that will mean selling the integra to fund this project. i will do up a for sale thread showing all the spares (there is a lot, 3 gearboxes, 3 sets of axles, 1 complete spare b18c motor, 2 spare blocks bored for darton sleeves, spare heads, cams, inlet manifolds, spare clutches, flywheels, etc, etc , i would really like to sell everything as a package but if there is no interest in it as i package i will consider splitting it up.

like i said i'll do up a full for sale thread when i get a chance to go through everything, but in the mean time if anybody is interested pm me and we can have a chat.
