when i bought my integra vtir with b20/18 conversion it still had the stock air box.. underneath the box its-self is a oval rectangle shaped hole... is anything supposed to bolt onto this?? like more piping that leads to the lower front bar or anything ?? it looks incomplete to me

yes... deopending on what type of box it is it will have a feed which goes through a resonator that ends up in the bay or in the guard

I also realise that in my car as well. Would affect the car in anyway?

i think it works as a stock cai sort of thing ..im pretty sure were missing out on some quality cold air coz right now its sucking in hot air from the bay

^ Correct... it will potentially effect performance ever so slightly generally, because the cold air feed is not there. Also it will make you car louder as the air being taken in isnt going through the resonator
in terms of finding one, either a wrecker, or put something up in our WTB forum!

its nothing to do with air, it only there to resonate the sound, like i told you in real life you noob lol.. get a proper cold air intake system, and wen u installl it that will have to go cause the filter will be sitting right next to ur driverside wheel .

bro im telling u i have been told that nothing beats the stock air box and plus i dont want to many defects on my car.. as u know, its a clean stock looking car with just a little extra power. i want it looking clean and stock. and pluss i cant understand how if i connect this peice and run it to the undercarriage or guard so that its sucking in cold air, how it wouldnt work as a cai

if im posting on WTB anyone know what to call the item im looking for ??

That's the resonator box, it's designed to resonate the stock intake to help make it quieter. And you have been told wrong when you were told nothing beats the stock air box.
The stock airbox is designed for performance as well as emissions/noise, so most good quality aftermarket intakes will easily beat it in regards to performance.

When you pull it apart you will find its got no end for it to bring cold air, its closed up, .. well youve got an exhaust system theyll pick on you for that more than a filter or airbox

but first thing they do is open up your bonnet and last time on my NX i had an exhaust and i only got defected for pod filter and extractors. end of the story is that i dont want a cai coz i think they make ur bay look cheap unless u have a very very worked bay.. ive got nothing in mine... sorta know what i mean ??

A common mod is to use your stock airbox (since you're so worried about defects) but to get some cheap airconditioning ducting pipe and route it from your front bar/splashguard to the underside of your airbox.

CAI makes ur engine look cheap? , lol it does the opposite imo

yeah sounds good.. thats what i was thinking about doing....
also one of my mates made a replica with chrome piping that leads to a custom box with pod inside then more piping to the guard... i personally just think the stock box on a stock bay looks better

man all im saying is that IN MY OPINION.. you should either have a sexy ass mother****ing engine bay like this http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118139&highlight=b20
or stock... inbetween in my opinion is just not nice..
my conclusion is either work the shit out of it or leave it with a stock look and i personally like the stock look

not sure what you mean
the stock intake consists of the rubber pipe from the intake manifold to the airbox. Thin gauge plastic piping from the bottom of the airbox to the resonator under your headlight/guard, then from there a plastic pipe that in a VTIR comes back into the bay, in a ITR is repositioned into the guard...
How could it be blocked off if it is an air feed?

many people take this route dude, they enlarge the hole in the box, attach some sort of piping such as air conditioning duct, and route it to the bumper or vent... its a good cheap way to get some more horsepower...
oh yeh, sorry noob mod pressed edit instead of quote :-)

not sure bout dc2r but this is a gsi/vtir one, see how its just closed off when connected together

you need an ITR resonator and associated piping
I'm unsure, but you may also need the ITR airbox and intake pipe (the bit from the intake manifold to the box)... actually im sure the airboxes look the same... unsure, hopefully someone here can help?

hmmmm... to honest dude i cant really tell what you're saying... but what you're describing it as is like a cai that is welded shut? thats not gonna work is it? it must break from elsewhere other than the end!

lol im not tryna say anything im saying that its there to resonate sound not for feeding in air

the resonator goes back into the engine bay on the side thats wat the white part is so its not a cai in anyway gsipsi is right

cool cool... just out of interest, because this is what OP is asking for... where is the air feed? where does the air go into the system?
i just dont know how a VTIR one works other than diagrams
