hey

i have a b16a and when my car is warm, normally vtec will normally just work once its warm but in my case i have to stop and turn the car wright off and let it sit for 5 mins then back on for it to actually work, just wondering what it could be? a guy told me could be wiring in the ecu or the solonoid?

any help is much appreciated :)

check the ECU for fault codes

inspect your sump for dents

check your oil pressure.

sounds like the car is going into limp mode when vtec kicks in, and your resetting the ecu by turning off and on.
Check your timing on top of what's been said, the ECU will disable vtec if it gets too much knocks.

maybe also faulty knock sensor or faulty ECU.

Try one thing at a time and isolate the problem

will it be easier to take it to honda and get them to hook it up and see if theres a fault with my ecu?

first thing that comes to mind, is check for oil levels............ most common prob when vtec is kicking in and out.....and there is no cross over point...

also check the wiring to the solenoid and plug is in good condition

YEH..... i think it only has one plug for the solenoid, unless ur solenoid filter is dirty and blocked....
