Hi guys, planning to get a honda civic hybrid, now main concern is, how often does the car needs servicing? every 10,000 kms?
Do i just service the car with normal engine oil and oil filter liek any other normal civics vti?
Any special things i gotta do or look for or any sort of maintenance Hybrids car need?
eg: turbo cars, i service every 5000kms...etc

how about the hybrid civics? any sort of maitenense or special oil i have to use..etc?

Your help is appreciated,

Cheers all

Honda owners usually have their oil/filter change every 5k or 6 months.
As for hybrids, they use a low viscosity oil that only can be bought from honda dealers.

I agree they are ugyl. They are designed to have less drag. The best shape, in reducing drag, is a moon disc shape surface, just like the classic old wheels.

Now picture your civic with that :P

Hi, been doing my research that, due to hybrid cars that runs on half electric and half petrol, is it true that once the battery stuffs up, it costs over 5-10k just to replace? or anyone know much about the maintence of the hybrid engines?

clayton4115
14-12-2009, 07:51 PM
here is a good forum, www.greenhybrid.com

and no it doesn't cost $10k to replace it, before 8 years Honda bears the risk for the battery after 8 years it should cost around $1k to $2k to replace, with technology and prices coming down all the time, this is my educated guess.

ok so it looks like i would need to put in $10k extra to upgrade to a hybrid 2007. Say my trade in is $13k and asking price is $23k for the hybrid.

threesix
15-12-2009, 09:56 AM
thats just redbook though so....

you could get an FD3 for 19k i recon. and sell yours private for 15k. done.

BUT!!!!!!!.... test drive one first! you might not like it. LOL!!!

clayton4115
15-12-2009, 09:59 AM
if i were to upgrade my 7th gen, it will be the hybrid, i do alot of kms for work, going to clients house across brisbane, caboolture and gold coast so i need a car with a bigger fuel tank than my current one, and obviously more fuel efficient.

threesix
15-12-2009, 10:19 AM
are you keeping the stock wheels on it if you get one? bigger wheels = more petrol.

clayton4115
15-12-2009, 10:33 AM
well im not going to change anything if i get the hybrid, i like it the way it is, except for the wheels i do admit they look dorky, but i suppose the honda engineers designed them that way for a purpose.

threesix
15-12-2009, 10:35 AM
if you keep it stock you will save a BUCKET!! load of cash if you drive heaps.

may the force be with you.

clayton4115
15-12-2009, 10:42 AM
