I just changed the engine oil on my EK1. I noticed that the oil level is 1cm over the second mark. Should I drain the oil or it should be fine?

it can be a bit sluggish but you may be able to remove some of the oil by undoing the oil filter. You can releas some from the plug but it will be messy, put lots of paper and the floor.

Do you think I could get a clear tube and suck it up from the top?

1cm over will be fine. As long as thats the reading when cold. As in been standing with engine off for a while.

Yeah, just a bit sluggish. In my d16y4 auto,I fill mine 5mm under the line using Motul 5w-40 full synthetic and it revs more freely.

1cm over sound alot to me
i would drain some out
wouldnt seals fail as a result, eg. cause leaks around the engine when overfilled

1cm is fine. As long as you don't fill it up to the level where your crank can hit the oil or it reaches the crank seal.

Only if you fill it up to the level of the seal.

1cm is fine. nothing to worry about. your car will burn it a little anyways over time.

I just had a check after leaving it for a few hrs. Its actually about 1.5cm above the second mark. Would that still be ok?

it will randomly puff out white/blue smoke until it reaches a normal-ish level.
I know this because i just did it lol.
Whether this is SAFE or UNSAFE....can some one clarify on this ? EXCESSIVE overfilling will push out rubber seals and grommets , but a little over im sure should be OK

excessive overfill and you will get hydro lock. which means bent valves etc.

Whats considered excessive? from the 5 Litre of engine oil I bought there is about 800ml left.

depending on the engine -
with oil fitler changed too ( adds to oil capacity) around 4.1-4.2 litres should be used. So thats fairly right.

You need about 6-7 litres to get the oil up to the level of the PCV valve. Even then, you will get lots of smoke and not hydrolock because the amount sucked into the intake manifold through the small tube is not enough to fill the cylinder.

that sounds about right then. 4.1 litres is the ammount you need.
Are you measuring this with the car not being driven within the last hour and also with the car sitting on a level surface?
Also did you drain all the oil before refilling it?
Sorry for the stupid questions but you never know.

The car was jacked up only from the front therefore it was slanting so im not sure if the old oil was completely drained out. and I dont think my drive way is perfectly leveled. but shouldn't give a reading of 1.5cm over the second mark.

Take the oil drain bolt out and let some drain out!

Get your car on level ground and measure again after turning the engine off for 5 minutes.

If it was OK, the dipstick indicator would be 2cm higher than it is.

No need to do that, you can just drain some oil out via the drain bolt, down to the level on the marker. That would be ya best bet.

You sure the car is on a flat surface?
4.2l should be okay. I overfilled mine before and it just burnt it off.
