hey guys,
i fitted a set of buddyclub n+ over the weekend. i lowered the car abit and the car seems to act like a boat. the car feels like its floating side to side if i hit bumps/grooves on the road.
i initially had it on the softest setting, wanting to retain comfort for everyday driving, then later tightening it up 10clicks harder from softest setting. yet it still feels floaty.
i havnt yet gotten a wheel alignment yet, and i dont want to get one done to find out its not.
could a car be too low at a point where it alters the way the car drives in a straight line? ive seen heaps lower cars and im assuming they dont have this same feeling everytime they drive their cars.
example pic of the height.

I have the buddy club N+ on my car and it's not supposed to feel like that. From the pic it looks like you have way too much rear camber. You'll need a rear camber kit to correct it.

I also got it on my euro. Mine doesn't feel like that either. Going over bumps for me is fairly smooth compared to other branded coilovers. But mine doesn't feel like a boat. Maybe you need a week or 2 to allow the coilovers to settle in.

dude you need to properly preload each corner (basically just tighten the TOP perches until the spring is firmly captive UNCOMPRESSED/STATIC.
Then , as the shock travel will not vary you can adjust the LOWER perch to make the car whatever height you want. Time and tape measure will get this right.

i hope u didnt play with ur spring rate :/ try 11 - 14 click front and 9 - 12 click rear. last time i had mine on 1 finger gap with those damper setting it feels like madness like truly madness from my experience with 16 inch stockies .

noob question: he has adjusted the shocks so the car sits that low. or are the springs custom??
2nd noob question: What springs have u got (if u changed them)??

Looks like you have lowered the spring perch like what Bennjamin said. You need to raise the spring perch back up to factory height so that you regain damping capabilities and then lower the car using the lower shock body mount.

Yep like others have said. Uninstall the coilovers then set the spring preload to be equally in front left and right. Same in the rear. Dial the perch until the springs cannot move and give it a bit more turns. Use some messurament tape to make sure left and right are equal in length.

you guys are so mean ignoring his questions. :P
he replaced his suspension with coilovers
a different suspension system to your normal shock and springs.

so ive lowered it correctly, however the boaty effects are still slightly noticeable.
the perch was whinded up nice and firm for the spring not to move. could it just be a wheel alignment that has made it feel like this?

if you havent had it aligned recently or at all , then YES.
Lowering , pulls or pushes TOE out even further than when at stock height. So , if your toe was slightly out of spec at stock height it could be further out.
Get it aligned

You need to get the manual and raise the spring perch back up to factory specifications. Sometimes going up until the spring is captive is still not enough.

Yes it should state in the manual what is required in mm or cm static length of the captive spring height. You then adjust the lower perch to suit

Sorry to hijack, but i just got my N+ put on with about a finger gap between guard and 18" tyre, and i had to put the damping on full to get the suspension significantly tighter than stock.
When i had it on 10 front and 7 rear (it felt similar to stock), i bottomed out around a corner without any bumps or anything and it was really bouncy :(. with 16-16 its a lot better, but is this normal??
Thanks

the spring rate whould settle in after awhile. maybe not put it on the full load 16 clicks all the way. try adjusting the spring rate like a tad tighter than the specs

Not normal. You must raise your lower spring perch so that the damper goes back within the operating range of travel.

i have a set of pedders coils and had that problem. I took it to jaxx tyre service and they fixed the issue. Reset the camber with a new ingals camber kit. I had no troubles from then on. I have mine on 0 now for comfort, but when i go natio run, i put it up to 15 clicks (half way) its the best feeling... just watch how quick your tyres will go as you start taking corners like a maniac! lmao haha

no problems at all. and mine was low as shit. lower than wha tu have there.
get an alignment helps like hell. lower with the spinning of the shock/thread not the perch.. feels a whole lot different. as i tried both.

What should I do about getting this fixed up? Where can I take my car in Melbourne that actually know what they are doing?
I'm kinda pissed off, cos i just saw the other day, that my right front coilover wasn't bolted in at the top (the 6 or so bolts you can see from the engine bay). It just seems as though they have seriously f***ed my install, cos I have my damping on 100% hard, and its kinda bouncy...
On the other hand, that may be how it's meant to feel... I'm not really sure on what to do now...
Any suggestions?
