Hi guys and gals,

I picked up a 95 Accord VTI the other day, and thought about maybe doing some small mods to it (well, small budget). So I came searching on Google for a forum and here I am.

I will break out the Olympus over the weekend and take some nice photos of it and upload. It currently is in stock condition, it is a VTEC model and has a manual gearbox, sunroof, stock mags (look very nice), it is white and has the rear spoiler. I am seriously surprised at actually how nice it looks as standard, I think a simple lowering and tinted windows would be all I ever want with the looks to be complete. Also a mild sports exhaust would finish it off for me, just a simple, understated-look sports car.

I also have a 96 Accord EXi which is champagne in colour, automatic (which annoys me something fierce, just personal preference) and the VTI is replacing the EXi, so I will be selling a nice EXi shortly. I am amazed at the difference between the two, the difference between the auto and manual is amazing and the VTEC kicking in is unreal! I've heard others talk about how good it is, but to experience it and now to own it, awesome stuff.

Anyway, blah blah about the car, I live on the Gold Coast and work as a computer technician in Ashmore. I wouldn't mind meeting up with some others for a cruise once in a while, should be some fun. Other than work and driving to work I spend time with my family, love my wife and two little boys. Also starting to get in to go karting, it's heaps of fun but not a cheap hobby.

So I will be looking around the forums to get a feel of the place and where everything is, so hopefully I don't go asking too many stoopid questions...

Anyone else on the Gold Coast feel free to say hi.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome.

I didn't get to the "pics" part over the weekend, I started off by vacuuming and "Armor-All"ing the interior, then my dad came over as we were looking at the driver's side radiator fan (it wasn't spinning). The pipe up the top was looking pretty bad so he pulled it off to replace it and the whole tank outlet bit snapped off! So that was rather annoying. We went to swap over the radiator from the other Honda I have (auto) however because of the auto transmission it can't be swapped - it has a transmission cooler part in it and the manual doesn't. So now I'm driving the auto, and I just got a phone call from the radiator shop - they replaced the top tank, put it under pressure test and it's almost half blocked and is like concrete, they cannot clean it out and so I need a new radiator.

So when I get a new radiator in it and finally get to wash and polish it up a bit, hopefully then I'll get some photos. I went through the log book and at the 130k service the technician wrote "Noisy radiator fan", so I wonder if anything was ever done about it? Probably not because here I am fixing it now... Oh the joys.

Cheers

Hey guys, thanks for the welcomes.

Once it's all up and running nicely we'll definitely catch up for a quick meet some time, and obviously 5lam will need to have his rego'd.

I picked up the radiator today, apparently it's a better one than the alloy one that died on me, I forget what she said it was, maybe copper? Does that sound right? And it has a metal tank on the top, so I won't have to worry about that either.

I'm trying to get the fan from the wreckers, need to save some $$$ somewhere and if it runs fine then that's all I need.

Then next on the list would be the tinted windows and exhaust, I'm going to have to save up a bit and wait on the lowering as the radiator has taken up my budget for that. But at least now I know I'm going to have a good radiator setup, one of many important things a car needs.

Cheers, I'll get some pics soon to make this thread actually half-decent.

Radiator is in, I took it for a burn last night and it runs great. I also gave it a quick wash, and I'll give it a good polish on the weekend. It's looking pretty nice and if I had the camera with me at work I'd sneak out a few photos of it now. Perhaps I'll be able to get them this afternoon before the sun goes down.

CD player is next to go in, and then the windows tinted and that's my budget up on it for now...

exhaust and suspension will have to wait until later, after I sell the EXi.

Cheers

Well we had a busy weekend, I didn't get time to polish it however I did give it a good wash and clay before a chamois, the clay got a bit of stuff off and now I can see it really needs a nice polish and wax, it's looking slightly dull when you look close up at it.

I did manage to snap some pics at work last week, uploaded them on the weekend so I'll try and attach them here, enjoy.

Had a Sony CD player installed this morning, sounds good. :D Nice to have some tunes in the car, the original tape deck was dead.

So what do you think guys, can you see some potential in it? What do you think of my ideas, window tint, lowered on stock rims and mild sports exhaust? I could obviously go overkill on it but at my budget it would take a long time...

Cheers

Oh was also thinking about interior mods, as you can see it doesn't have any floor mats, seat covers, pedal covers or anything like that, what do you recommend? I don't really want to just grab some cheap Super Cheap Auto stuff if it's no good and not going to last. And where to get a nice Honda keyring for my keys? :honda:

Hey hows the honda coming along??

It has got heaps of potential man.... Lowered, nice set of wheels, good set of 6x9s mids tweeters good sub, steering wheel... doesnt take much an dont have to spend big dollars either.

I like cars simple looking not to over board with big kits an loud mufflers... To much POLICE notice it.

Best of luck with the project.

Hey thanks man. I'm still divided over the rims at the moment, I think the standard ones look really good. Just a nice lowering on them may be all I do. Also the standard speakers rock pretty hard enough, I don't crank music up very loud anymore as I have hearing loss, so I don't want to lose anymore as you can't get it back once you've lost it. The Sony head deck is nice.

I'm actually wondering about the steering wheel as it has an airbag, did Honda release a sports steering wheel in this model with an airbag? I'd really like a nice solid wheel as the top is all scratched up.

Also some kits look hot, but most of the time a simple lowering brings a car more to my personal taste. Once the windows are tinted and the lowering is done, I'll decide then whether to keep the rear spoiler or not. I'm still divided on it at this stage.

Cheers
