View Full Version : Recommended 4-channel amp?

Here's my setup:

- Pioneer AVIC-D3 deck
- 6.5" Alpine Type-R components up front (SPR-17S)
- Alpine 5.25" Type-R speakers in the rear (SPR-13C)

I am leaning against running a sub, so I want to make sure that my speakers are properly powered. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I want the speakers to be run to their full potential or close to it for a reasonable price. Not just running off the deck.

To me, a lot of 4 channel amps seem the same or very similar - I'm just looking to max out my setup without going to a sub setup. I'll probably pick something up on eBay or Craigslist in new or lightly used condition. Alpine, JL Audio, etc. preferred.

Suggestions appreciated!

First things first, that system will not produce bass without destroying your components. Any bass will be coming from the front splits since 5.25" speakers wont create bass unless they have some serious meat. With proper sound deadening it would more than likely get pretty low but not with authority. If its just a little more reinforcement that you are after then it should be adequate for your needs.

Two appropriate amplifiers from my own ranges would be these:

or

I'm happy to bring the price down on the FLI amplifier, just find me a price to match so I can help out. The STEG amplifier would actually be the best choice though. I would advise bridging the channels and amplifying only the front speakers with a full 135RMS. The amp is made in Italy so its MUCH higher quality than almost anything else out there and it will be excellent for any future upgrades. Its also TINY so it will be really easy to fit where other amps don't. Oh and did I mention its on special for $350? :)

Thats my 2 cents on it mate, if you have any questions just ask.

lets see 4x100 or 4x45... hmmm... at the price point both would be asian made... if it was me and i was in the market for a cheap amp and the fly was doing its claimed 100 then id be going for it, but there are others out there too... then again, you are running alpenis so any old amp will do :)

The Steg is Italian made as pointed out in my post. The special is on for my AD6 customers but I thought I would extend a special to everyone too . :)

unless you're thinkin of goin active, id rather get a better, more powerful 2 channel. run the rears off the deck.

get some SD too if you really wanna run your speakers to their potential

(5 yr warranty on all products)

i'd stay clear of ebay for audio gear as a lot of mfg's don't extend their warranty to ebay. why not visit dedicated audio shops, knowledge + warranty = win
