definitely car is louder... your car will give out more pollutants, and the cops will definitely pull you over and give you a heavy fine. Power wise... only 1 or 2 more kw.

it will be louder, it will be more powerful (sometimes considerably) but it will be highly illegal... i seem to recall it's 1k fine per cylinder in your motor... i think...

not to mention the amount of deadly toxins coming from the rear end.
it converts carbon monoxide into sulfur. (bad spelling but im pretty sure thats what it does?...am i right?)

Will sound louder, will smell like a rotten dynosaur egg soaked in the poo of a seagull that just ate a massive, oily and fried dumpling, will give a little bit of power from your butt dyno, will risk you a 10K fine (from memory) from the EPA and may cause your post cat O2 sensor to throw an error if you have one.
Gutting a cat to risk a huge EPA fine... I'll pass :D...

+1 spot on :)
the fine from the EPA is massive if you get caught, much more than any other defect

One of my mates got done for no cat.
His total fine was 15grand. I think. Either its 15grand all up. Or 15g for just the no cat.
Either way. Its around 10grand.
Getting a stock cat and punching the stuff out you dont actually gain any power. The design of the cat housing is suppose to restrict flow.
Youll most probably lose power.

Just to clairfy a few things....
I rang the epa and spoke with one of the officers in charge of the automotive department. The officer was able to fine tune a few details on what cat is legal or illegal for your car.
The officer said that there is nothing in the legislation that says what type of cat is illegal. It also states that as long as there is a cat, no matter the cpsi, you will avoid any attention from the law. However the exhaust as a whole would need to comply with sound and emmission standards. So really its a catch 22. High flow cat (100 cpsi) = higher emmissions or large diameter exhaust piping = louder db.
If you don't have a cat on your car, a $10,000 fine is issued to the workshop that supplied you with no cat and not to the driver of the car. Thats not to say that you won't escape a fine and a trip down to the epa testing center.
If your unsure what is legal or illegal just call the epa or police cos end of the day they will see that you are making an effort to find out this sort of stuff.

Do the world and its environment and the occupants(ourselves) some good, and leave the cat.
